Jamie and Bryan......I really appreciate your kind words regarding my Mantle.
Credit really goes to my Mom and Aunt, who saved all my "goodies" from my youth when I was away in the Air Force. Ryan......as you said in your opening statement......" Picking a top 3 is tough..... ". So, if you don't mind, I am adding these two "gems" to my above 3-card display. This UZIT completes my 13-card run of this McGraw. This card is unique (until another McGraw/UZIT is discovered). http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...ZITxSGC30x.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...loveUZITxb.jpg And, favorite Cobb.....which (near) completes my AMERICAN BEAUTY 460 run (72 of 74 cards) http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...ffAB460x50.jpg . http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...nbeauty460.jpg TED Z T206 Reference . |

Hi Pete That diagonal "scar" from Mickey's left ear (on down) is not a crease, but a surface scratch. And, I don't know what caused it. All my other 1952 TOPPS cards which I originally collected (Spring 1952 to Fall 1952) average VgEx to Ex. Furthermore, there is a Net54 member whose original Mantle has the same "scratch". Perhaps, if he is reading this, he will post his Mantle here. TED Z T206 Reference . |

Great picks. I've never seen any of these. Not a corner of the market I am familiar with. |

Pete Irv is the Net54 member I referred to in the prior response to you. Check-out Post #28 in this thread.... http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...2+topps+mantle The "surface scratch" on his 1952T Mantle is remarkably similar to the one on my Mantle card. TED Z T206 Reference . |

Before I post them, let me say that I used to own the 52' Topps Mantle in my 20s. I was too busy working, getting drunk and chasing girls, and the card just sat there collecting dust. Eventually I sold it. I have attached it below. My top 3 right now can be seen below the Mantle. I am always open to trading for a 1951 Bowman Mantle. :) |
Thx ted!

There is really some great eye candy in this thread. My guess is that most of us could have picked a few others that are our favorites at any given time. For favorite poses this one comes to mind.

Kind of like picking favorite kids here:
Today I'll go with... 1. D381 Fleischmann Cobb, impossibly rare card from the set, took years to land this one! 2. 1907 Detroit seemless Cobb PC RC , one of rarest and earliest cards of Ty 3. C.1925-26 RPPC of Ruth, wife, Fred Merkle and Brother Matthias sitting in new car that I believe was a gift from Ruth outside of St. Marys school. |

1. Lajoie -- Have owned since I was a kid in the '80s. A ton of sentimental value.
2. Traynor -- Only non-"biggie" (i.e. non-Wags, -Ruth, -Gehrig) that I kept from the non-T206 HOF collection I busted up several years ago. So I must really like it. 3. Cobb -- Just love the image purity on this and other SC 150/25s. |

Here are my Top 3: a 1928 Exhibit of Lou Gehrig, a 1934 Goudey premium of Babe Ruth and a 1911 T3 of Hughie Jennings.

so much eye candy! Here are three of my favorites, although there are at least five more that are right on their tails (including my avatar). It's hard to pick just three...but I'll do a few of my HOF rookie postcards since these are so unique:
c1943 RPPC of Roy Campanella (Monterrey uniform) http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...Campanella.jpg c1913 RPPC of Rabbit Maranville (Boston Braves uniform) http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...Maranville.jpg c1913 Tri-State League PC of HOF umpire Bill McGowan http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...eague%20PC.jpg |
Derek, are you done visiting with Roy yet? Love it
