Ted Breitenstein
Speaking about pitchers with 2 no-hitters, here's one of my favorite T206 guys......
October 4, 1891, the last day of the season, Ted Breitenstein made his 1st Major League start with the St Louis Browns, and threw a No-Hitter against the Colonels. He Walked just one batter, who was erased by a double play. Therefore, Ted pitched only to 27 batters ("Perfect game" ?). April 22, 1898 with the Cincinnati Reds, Ted pitched his 2nd No-Hitter, this time against the Pittsburgh Pirates. .http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...350xCOUPON.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...50xCOUPONb.jpg TED Z T206 Reference . |
[QUOTE=Gnep31;1913680]Longevity coupled with dominance puts him in as a first ballot HOF. But I thought that even before the 3rd no no.
Does he go into the HOF wearing a Tiger or Astro’s cap on his plaque? |

"Despite adding Gallaraga’s perfect game to the record books, the number of perfect games in history remains at 23. That’s because, in a strange and somewhat cruel twist, Commissioner Manfred got into a bit of a reviewing-perfect-games rabbit hole and ended up revoking Humber’s, saying, “Brendan Ryan didn’t swing at that last pitch, and it was three feet outside. Ball four, perfect game out the window. Oh, and Chone Figgins probably would have followed the walk with an RBI double, so Humber doesn’t get a no-hitter or shutout either. And let’s be real — once he lost the no-hitter and shutout, they’re not going to leave him out there to finish blowing the game, so his only career complete game is gone too.” When reached for comment, Humber said, “Wait, what?!?” |

The really crazy thing before the no-hitter, ( and before his 5 1/3 inning ejection) he pitched a complete game against the Tigers, throwing 99 pitches losing 2 to 1. He gave up 2 Home runs and no walks. No errors. He was basically 2 bad pitches away from having 4 no nos and a maybe a perfect game.
