That Hornsby looks nice in the binder page.
Here's a Gillespie batting. I need to check, I think I only need a RHHH to finish the run. It has taken me longer to do this player run than I thought it would. Ten years on... |
Nice job! I’m embarrassed to admit that it knew what RHHH was.

Thanks, Jay. I figured the OJ collectors would know "right hand head high". I say "right hand held high" for the Connie Mack, which is one of my favorite cards.

Thanks to Brian for helping me add to my Matty back run. Still on the hunt for an EPDG, Cycle or Polar Bear if anybody has a 3/4 grade.

Recent LOTG pickups: So excited to acquire something period of HOFer Henry Chadwick! My HOF career-contemporary number now stands at 316/329. Also, picked up the Bill Dahlen because 1) Speculation of his eventual induction, and 2) My collection REALLY needed a Turkey Red - my very first. :-)

Cool pick up Leon.
May seems to be a Wagner month. Thanks to Tim, Bob, and Dan, each of which is a board member, for these cards. I am especially over-the-moon about the Newsboy. |
That Baltimore Newsboy is a neat card. Congratulations Ryan.

Thanks all. And that’s a great looking e90-1 Matty!
I took a Chance on this card at Goldin tonight. Admittedly, likely over-graded but very tough combo. |

Last month I finished trades with two great guys, Bryan and Val.
We kicked around both trades for years (we were in no rush!) -- Bryan made my day with this pretty Red Cross as he knows how much I love the set. Val and I had worked hard to find just the right trade -- WaJo for WaJo -- for the Victory. He filled a key spot in my WaJo hands-at-chest back run. I am now only missing the BL460, T215-1, and T215 Pirate to complete the project. Thank you guys! |

Steve, two total awesome cards. Congrats. I can’t believe Val would part with a t214 Wajo- you must have worked very hard on that one!

Doc Steen Collection: Signed M101-2 Nap Lajoie
Can't believe I was able to pull this absolute stunner down from Heritage last night. Although not identified by Heritage in its description, this signed supplement comes from the Doc Steen collection, which made its way to auction on May 16, 2015. I now have 18 of the possible 53 from that collection.
From the original auction in 2015: Dr. Clarence G. "Doc" Steen, began collecting baseball autographs in 1910 and he collected his entire life passing away in 1965. Doc Steen sent players photos to sign, most in the form of these premiums, storing them carefully and out of the light. After his passing these signed photos were placed in a safety deposit box where they remained for decades. As a result of this careful handling and storage the majority of his collection are signatures that rate 8-10 on a scale of 1-10. |
Absolutely stunning Nap item! The signature is amazing on that one. And so is the provenance!

Submitted at Strongsville, and arrived today. Reasonably pleased with the grades as well. Obaks are just wonderful.

Another factor in my decision is that I am a much bigger fan of real-photo, black-and-white cards than I am of the colorful, artist-created cards (except for the T206 WaJo portrait, the best looking pre-War card ever made). So, I'm happily working on back runs of WaJo's 1916, 1917, and 1921-22 real-photo issues. |
