Wow Luke, that is one heck a grouping. Very nice. Let me know if you ever want to sell or trade the Collins blank back; I know someone naked Ryan who would be interested.

Luke 05-05-2019 02:18 PM

Alright, alright, keep your clothes on Ryan! Haha, thanks for the kind words. You will be the first to hear about if I decide to part with Collins.

Sean, I got it from one of the major AHs about 3 years ago. There are two copies of Collins BB that I'm aware of. The other one has bigger, somewhat jagged borders and has been shown on this site a decent amount of times. I bet someone on here owns it.

I'm pretty shocked that this card was Lionel Carter's. He was such a notorious condition freak that anything like this probably came from Buck Barker, Charles Bray or Jefferson Burdick very early on, say just before WWII or just right after.

I too own a card from Carter -a M101 Deal with a nice crease going across. It's one of my favorite cards because of who owned it. Carter was a huge influence on me as a writer.

I was surprised it was Lionel's card as well and that's one of the reasons I love it so much. To think it came from Barker, Bray or Burdick is pretty cool too.

Great cards in this thread. I am always partial to Headin' Home cards.

I gotta be honest, it's a puzzler. Bought both (ungraded) a million years ago, way before grading was anything, and still can't for the life of me see what the actual issues are. Had no idea anything was wrong (besides the obvious) with either card. So frustrating.

bobbyw8469 05-08-2019 07:44 PM

Darren, the Ted Williams looks like what could be an eraser mark on the front. That could be why that one got the "A" grade. But I'm the world's worst. That's why I send all my stuff to PSA.

That could be the case in the upper right. It sort of looks hazy due to the cloud being there (the way the other clouds look), but it's possibly partly an erasure.

Preach, sir. Preach. I love your King Kelly. If you ever want to move it, please let me know!

vintagebaseballcardguy 05-10-2019 02:27 PM

It probably varies on the particular issue, but what is the ballpark percentage you guys would pay for a nice A vs. a beat up 1 or 2 or a low grade card in general??
