Dave's 1921 cobb exhibit on the BST right now would be a great first vintage cobb for less than $500!

I was thinking the same thing Pete, that`s a nice card. It doesn`t quite fit the topic but for me the best looking Ted Williams "48" Leaf for under 1 K sounds good. Always liked that card. Another choice Cy Young E-90, it would mostly likely be trimmed but still a nice looking example could be had for about 1 K. Cool topic.........

I love the leaf williams and the e90-1 young(boston) too...and both are in my collection.

Truth is there are a plethora of nice cobbs on ebay for $1000 or less...Caramels...Tobaccos, etc...cards that were $500 cards a few years ago...$1000+ now! Get em while they're only $1000.

If you look hard and long you can still find an E90-1 Young portrait, not trimmed and fairly decent, in the 1k range. Not sure how much longer that will happen as it's a really nice portrait of a name no one will ever forget because of the award.

problem with this card/pose is I don't think you can find a recognizable example for $1000 anymore?

My condition requirements aren't that high. :D

As points of reference, an e101 cobb in a BVG A holder (trimmed with good eye appeal) sold in both July and October 2018 for less than $700 both times. I also bought an SGC 1.5 E90-1 Young for less than $500 last month (granted, it has paper loss and crease on the front, but still)

E92 Dockman Wagner (throwing pose)

Around 20 years ago I bought a raw but very nice Dockman Cy Young at a show in Raleigh, NC for around $500. Not knowing much about prewar, as well as being somewhat younger and stupider, I somehow convinced myself shortly after buying it that the card was trimmed, so I sold it for probably a bit less than I paid for it. Less than a year later I saw the same card (I could tell from the attributes it was the exact one I had...) in a PSA 5 slab for sale on eBay.

So yeah, that was a few dollars lost...

Thanks. Yes, we'd now have to go pretty low grade to get most of these for 1k...

MichelaiTorres83 02-01-2019 02:38 PM

How much does one of these cost if I wanted a specific card made and what size are they for that price?

One last question, will you ensure 1 of 1 on the card fronts you do and would you also consider doing the cards back?

There's one on ebay now SGC 1.5 with a BIN of $1,000.

That is a nice pick for a series that gets little love.

Great Foxx pickup!

Leon 02-10-2019 04:34 PM

Late to the party but that is a cool and scarce card.
