I'll post my favorite Michigan collectible since they just had a nice win over Florida (despite two pick-6s).
In 1901 the University of Michigan football team had a historic year, going 10-0 and scoring 501-0 under coach Fielding Yost's inaugural season. After the regular season, Michigan traveled out west to Pasadena to play in the inaugural Rose Bowl game on January 1, 1902, where they easily defeated Stanford 49-0. College Hall of Famers on this championship squad included Willie Heston, Neil Snow (Rose Bowl MVP), Fielding Yost (coach), and Dan McGugin (later Vanderbilt coach). Posted here is a banquet program in honor of this historic team, signed by the entire Varsity squad along with the Athletic Board and Board of Control. This banquet was held at the Cook House for the 'Champions of the West' two weeks before their trip to Pasadena. This particular copy belonged to Ben Southworth, who was a substitute on the team. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/r.../Michcover.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/r.../michfirst.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/r...Michscores.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/r...ichvarsity.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/r.../michsigs1.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/r.../Michsigs2.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/r.../Michsigs3.jpg |
Great stuff all! Here are some of my oldest programs I thought I'd add to the mix.
College programs: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/PT...Q=w605-h762-no Walter Camp's first game: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ko...Q=w610-h762-no Early NFL programs and game announcements: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Sa...g=w660-h762-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Dm...A=w509-h762-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/rc...g=w548-h762-no jeff |
Chris, that signed banquet program is unbelievable!!
Jeff, those programs are equally great. In regards to Michigan, I used to own a program from the 1903 Michigan / Minnesota game at Northrop Field which is the original little brown jug game. Despite it's cornerstone aura, I ended up selling it as the Michigan guys made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I haven't seen it surface since I sold it, but I'm an advanced Michigan collector is highlighting it right now. It also helped me fund other purchases for my collection. I have the opening game 1903 program from Northrop Field which is going to have to be good enough for my collection. |
Outstanding collection Jason! Row The Boat! Ski-U-Mah!

1920 Georgia Tech's GOLDEN TORNADO
2 Attachment(s)
Huge photo of the 1920 Georgia Tech Golden Tornado football team. I love the concept... Plus it's big: Measures 16" x 14"
Pictures below do not do it justice and I "still" have to do something about the cheap frame. |
Wow Jason - the Gophers display is off the charts. Thanks for sharing!

I'm not a huge football collector, but I've picked up a few nice pieces this summer. Here's a real nice 'friction' jersey from a local estate, a 'US' issued football from a game in Paris a few months after WWII ended in Europe with many of the player names, and a nice early team cabinet photo from 1906.

Speaking of football memorabilia, I want to buy a few Chargers AFL programs. How big of a no no is it considered to be for an otherwise nice program to be 3 hole punched?
