I made a couple of minor additions to my collection. The first is an original photo of Babe Ruth that has been cut out and adhered to heavy card stock which appears to have been intended for use in a publication? It measures 7 3/4 X 13 1/2 the back is blank. Ruth looks young in the photo. Has anyone seen this image before? I thought it was cool and for $20 How could I go wrong? The second lot I picked up was listed as a 1971 World Series program. Although I already possess a copy, the two items (poster and Clemente item) included with it I had not encountered before. At $10 I was pleased to obtain them.

Scoreboard
That scoreboard is just plain cool!!

Very nice Mike! Anything with Ruth & Clemente is awesome in my book.

1930's Baseball Player figural clock. Will be a nice addition to my collection.
|
The Ruth with no eyes creeped me out, but yah for $20 bucks, why not.

Wonderful clock. This has long been a favorite among figural collectors:) |
I don't think you should remove the paint from the Ruth. The picture is so heavily altered that it is a bit transformed into advertising art. I would leave it as it is. Plus, if you ever find what it was used for, will you want to have altered the piece used to make it?

1929 All-American Baseball Schedule NL AL and AA
5 Attachment(s)
Looking for any schedule collectors that can share some interesting information about a 1929 All-American Baseball Schedule published by All-American Services out of Chicago. The schedule has a sliding paper inside that reveals the schedule for the day/date and opponent for the 16 week season. The front has the baseball records in 1929 including Babe Ruth's 60 HR season in 1927.
I am assuming the advertiser in this schedule is a gambling business. Any insight here ? |

I know this is a hockey item, but I thought you photo collectors might enjoy this one. It's a beautiful 1955 Type I Photo of Bobby Hull with the St. Catharines Teepees. The following note was hand written on the back, maybe by the photographer:
Lil Bobby Hull - Oct 6/55 Pilous (at the time coached the Teepees - future coach of the Blackhawks) knew he'd make a big splash his first day in TP's camp |

While an amazing image, the condition is really rough. It was priced to match though (which is why I got it).

"While an amazing image..." +1

Just noticed both were postmarked the day the 1906 World Series started...!
|
Ron,
Love the Scoreboard! I have the same one hanging in my backyard. We even light it up on special occasions (looks amazing at night). My wife thought I was crazy, but now even she loves it. Best craigslist purchase I've ever made :) |
Cubs/Sox PC's are not rare (by postcard standards) but cool none the less, especially with the postmark date. Nice pickup.

thanks!

I'm a big fan of that Pirates fan!
|
Thanks
Thanks for the nice comments everyone. To give reference, it is 10" long when folded up and straightened out. I knew this before I purchased it but I was still awestruck with the size and condition.
There are less than five known and this one I believe was from the Halper sale although I am not 100% sure about that. Thanks again |

Nice adds Rob and Bob. I added this 1974 Boog jersey to my Orioles collection. Amazing how big this is compared to other jerseys I have from this era.

I've bemoaned this before....penmanship is dead....have you seen a Trout or Lincecum "signature"? Is there any current player who does better than a scribble? |
Quote:

Thanks Rob and Mark. Rob you are definitely right about the signatures. I usually don't like my jerseys signed but I like the style and placement of this one.
