Here's a raw set I've been working on for the past couple of years. I think I'm down to six or seven, but I've really lost focus these past few months. Need the biggies, hoping to finish in 2017. Loving this thread, guys, let's keep it going!

T205 sub-sets
Nowadays, I enjoy the challenge of putting together sub-sets of T205's. For example my A-B-C-D pattern......
http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...ttern25xxx.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...attern25bx.jpg More precisely, this John Lobert A-B-C-D connection (still searching for the DRUM). There are exactly 32 subjects printed with this A-B-C-D pattern. http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...BLobert50x.jpg.http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...LLobert50x.jpg . http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...CYCLEx50xx.jpg ..http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...BLobert50b.jpg . .http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...LLobert50b.jpg.http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...CYCLEx50bx.jpg Or, looking for GREEN bordered T205's...... http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...5xSchlei50.jpg Or, misprints (mis-cuts)...... http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/t...smiscut50x.jpg.http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/t...insWCbk50x.jpg TED Z . |

Here's my $20 impulse buy. Pretty beat up, but the auction was about to end and it's a T205 HOFer in my price range. Like I said before, you can't find a T206 HOF for that price in any grade, I don't know about T205s. How'd I do? It would be nice if I could keep up with the beautiful cards you guys were showing up thread, but I'll have to make do with well-loved ones. At least it's complete and intact. Polar Bear back, FWIW.

I really like this set. I think 2017 will see me buying some T205 HOFers and some E95/96s.

Make that 76
I thought I should post this here. I just picked up this Bergen for my Piedmont Factory 42 set. I realized it wasn't on the spreadsheet from T205.org as a confirmed Factory 42 back.

Richard Carleton Hoblitzell x 4
Richard Carleton Hoblitzell
1888-1962 Distinguished 11 year Major League Career Played on 3 World Championship Teams One of the toughest variations to complete in the T205 Master Set. Posting the four Hoblitzell variations for the enjoyment of T205 collectors with my recent addition of the “No Stats”. 1. Easy to find “Cin.” After 2nd 1908 in Stats 2. Hard to find Name Incorrect, No “Cin” 3. Harder to find Correct, No “Cin” 4. Insanely difficult to find No Stats on Back http://i63.tinypic.com/2jalp9x.jpg http://i68.tinypic.com/1z4co5y.jpg |

Completed my set in 1972 less a couple of variations discovered since then. In 71 I bought 1100 T-205 and 206 from a farmer outside Max, ND. (Was able to trade and complete both sets with T-206 missing the big 3). I still have my return letter from Richard Egan, who was THE guy on checklists and info in the 70's-- my Hindu was the first ever reported. They remain my favorite set.

I picked up #19 this week. All PSA 3.
I love this set but kids in college have put a crimp in my budget for the last 4 years. |

I admit I'm not up to speed on this set, and figure it never hurts to have more t205 talk, so............ a few questions about the checklist: who are the 16 uncommons? and, I'm only counting 25 different HOFers, with 5 more variations. Who are the 28? and what are considered the 14 variations? on the checklist I'm using I have 23 listed. My set attempt is only geared toward 1 card of each player, and I know some players have more than one pose - I guess those aren't considered variations? Thanks for the help and happy new year! My set progress: 25 hofers ( I think I have one pose for each hofer) 9 MLers (counted Jimmy Collins in both ML and HOF) (need 3) 4 SPs (counted Joss and Walsh in both SP and HOF) (need 14) 118 commons (need 28) Here are all of my raw non hofers: |

I've been taking a break from collecting for a while, but I just jumped back in with this Joss. I also keep my cards in a binder, but I don't like the 15 mini card pages. It don't feel like I can put them in and take them out of the pages without damaging them a little. So I take a Card Saver II and cut it down to the size of a standard modern card with scissors. Then I put my card in it and use my FoodSaver vacuum sealer to seal the edges of the cardsaver. Then I put then in standard 9 pocket pages. It's a little work but it's the best thing for me. This allows me to take the cards out of the pages if I want to. And if I accidentally drop one it's no big deal. So far I have 48 T205s, so I've got a long way to go. But I do have a Cobb and Joss as well as several other HOFers and SP,s. I don't think I'm going to go for the back variations. I'd be happy with one of every front.

Great looking cards and definitely a consideration....There are so many ways to collect the set you can make it a fun challenge. I am certainly considering it!!

Just getting into the set and I absolutely love it.
I think it’s the combinations of gorgeous fronts, player stories, production anomalies, variations and availability of the base set that make it the ultimate collectors dream. Though I am a complete novice, I was thinking of going down the road of making the ultimate information resource on the set, combining player stories and bios with set info. Does such a thing exist? What resources are currently out there? |
I started the set about three months ago and have about 70 graded 3 or better. Seems to be getting slower as I go along though.

There are some sharp, graded exmt T205 commons included in the LTOG auction, which just went live. Plenty of goodies there for everybody. Nice job, Al.

Does a list exist of T205 cards and their availability in the 11 different tobacco brand backs? Does any T205 exist with all 11 brands?

Does anybody have any idea how many T205 hall of famers have been found with a Hindu or Drum back?
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |
Drum - Mordecai Brown
Hindu - Walter Johnson Taken from Ted Z.’s detailed thread on T205 backs, where he also predicts that Miller Huggins and Zach Wheat Drums may someday be found. http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=197200 A couple of notable non-HOFers exist as well - Chase Drum and Cicotte Hindu. |
