OK, I've already posted (Post #34) my favorite non-HOFer Hal Chase. Anyhow, I must also include "Turkey Mike" Donlin in this thread. Especially my
favorite white-borded tobacco card pose of him. Like Chase and Lefty O'Doul, one could make some good arguments why Donlin should be in the HOF. In 1905 John McGraw made Donlin the Captain of the New York Giants. In 1905, Mike enjoyed his best season, a career-high BA = .356 with 216 Hits, and he led the NL with 124 Runs. Mike's lifetime BA = .333 and had he taken his BB career more seriously....."he would have been a contender"....for the Hall of Fame. Hey Guys You can see "Turkey" Mike on the TCM Channel when they are featuring their series of Silent Movies. Donlin appeared in 67 movies from 1917 to 1935. Including, the classic 1926 movie...."The General". And, the 1927 popular BB movie...."Slide Kelly Slide". http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/t...p460sc42pb.jpg ............ 1914 ......................... 1910 ...................... 1910/1911 ................... 1910 ...................... 1910/1911 .............. I got hooked on variations when completing my back run and ended up with too many. There's a complete back run, wst, three with name at top and bottom, color shifts, variations and minor miscut. I'm done spending money on cards so will likely sell these and let some other hoarder keep going with it.

All of my pre-war (and my most favorite post war - Garvey) favorite non-hovers were mentioned already in Daubert, Rucker and O'Doul. You probably see a pattern developing, as some additional post war faves include Willie Davis, Gil Hodges, Billy Cox, Carl Furillo and Al Oliver.
My modest contribution, assembled mostly years ago in the early ebay days. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a81...ction/JAKE.jpghttp://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a81...ection/NAP.jpghttp://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a81...ction/jake.jpghttp://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a81...tion/LEFTY.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a81...RedCabinet.jpghttp://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a81...B18Blanket.jpg |

Really enjoyed this thread. The connections some of you have with your players (family relations, same hometown) are pretty cool. I'm hoping Jimmy Knowles (xplainer) will chime in, as he has a cool player collection.
My only non HOF player collection isn't a baseball one. I have a pretty robust collection of Boston Patriots great Gino Cappelletti |

In addition to Hal Chase I like to collect players who appear on a card as a Yankee just once. I just picked up this beauty! I like how his name is really Otto not Jack.

Thanks to this thread, I was able to add this piece to my Dots Miller collection at a fair price from a fellow board member. Never saw this pose before.
