Here's my October pickup for my Presidential Collection. Although not signed as President, I thought it was neat so I picked it up tonight online while I was sitting in Civil Procedure class trying not to annoy my professor by surfing on my phone bidding in auctions. (Hard to do when you sit on the front row ;) )
Governor Clinton sets the execution date for a convicted inmate (the execution was not carried out) I haven't researched on Westlaw or Lexis to find out why, have too much other stuff to do. http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/a...svlrmzhsm.jpeg |

Picked this up last night. Thats 4 signed T206's for my collection. Looking for more.

Just picked up this Branch Rickey contract.
What puzzles me is that this is supposedly a 1931 contract but below Heydler's signature it's stamped April 17,1929? Also the top of the contract has Form 1929 crossed out with 1931 inked in. The contract is also marked February 28, 1929 above Rickey's signature? Has anyone else ever seen a contract with different dates to it?? |
The contract was signed in 1929--when only "form 1929" was available--but it covers the 1931 season. Most likely a multi-year contract, with a separate contract form for each season. (And, yes, I've seen multi-year contracts done on one form, but that doesn't preclude it being done this way as well.)

Thanks Dave, appreciate the information.

Signed 1932 Zeenuts With Coupons
Just picked up these four. Autographed Zeenuts are tough enough to find, but ones complete with the coupon are almost unheard of.

Not really a "new pickup", but I did finally get these all framed up. Pretty excited with how they turned out!

Beautiful displays.. you should be very pleased.
|
OK, I'm going to come across as a jerk here, which is typical. I LOVE the displays, they look fantastic. (I think Cobb's my favorite.) But IMHO the Jeter looks awful with that Steiner card included. I love to see the autos and the pics, not some certificate of authenticity.

Not a jerk...that is one I plan on having her redo. The Jeter COA wasn't supposed to be part of the display. The last thing they need is more advertising.... |

Great looking displays! Are those pictures or paintings and where did you get them?

Nothin' wrong with that Gehrig, Brock. Just remember, whether the signature is bold or worn, Lou held that ball in his hand.

Despite all the fraud, nonsense, bickering, bashing, etc. that our hobby causes, it also causes a helluva lot of enjoyment for a lot of people, myself included. Graph on everyone. Mike |

I'm surprised that most would rather let this vintage DiMag ball go for less than the common show-era ones, but it works for me!!
|
Because its personalized

Yet I'd still rather have a 1970 personalized side panel HOFer than a 1995 NRMT Bobby Brown. Guess that's what makes the collecting world great! |

I usually do not collect autographs but when I seen this listed for sale on our great forum I had to buy it. It is from my hometown. I knew we had a minor league team in 1994 but did not know we did from 1965-70. We had a Phillies A ball team from 65-68 and a Cubs A ball team in 69 & 70. Manny Trillo and Greg Luzinski played here in 68 and Rick Reuschel played here in 70. With out finding this great item I might not have ever known about us having minor league teams for those 6 years from 65-70.

Just picked up this Dummy Hoy signed GPC. Postmarked 1948. I thought the signature was especially bold:

Congrats to all SF Giants fans. That was quite a World Series that just ended.
Madison Bumgarner's performance was one for the ages... Another 2014 Giants regular and post season pitching star was journeyman Yusmieiro Petit. Petit first became interesting to me in 2013 when he pitched 8 2/3 innings of a perfect game before eventually giving up a hit. I'm not sure how many of you picked up on this Yusmeiro Petit factoid, but on 8/28/2014 he set a very cool ML record by retiring 46 consecutive batters in a 4-1 Giants win over the Colorado Rockies. Petit broke Mark Buehrle's record of retiring 45 straight batters in conjunction with his perfect game on 7/23/2009. Petit's record was unusual in that it was accomplished through both relief appearances and as a starter. The good news is really that Yusmeiro Petit's autograph is one of the rare current players that has fairly nice penmanship. This ball was actually signed in spring training with the Mets in his rookie 2005 season a decade ago. ;) |
