Thanks to fellow board member Bob Warren for a nice PSA 3 1923-24 Exhibits Gabby Hartnett--a tough card!

Best to all,

Larry

These are old pickups that I just got back from PSA. I was pleased that they recognized that the Miller isn't trimmed. The green writing that bleeds over from the back on the bottom of the card shows that this card was probably at the bottom of the sheet.

Huggins & Scott Pickup

Put in an apparently high placeholder bid on this one a weeks ago and won it without a fight. Very happy about adding this card to my 1933 Goudey set (235/240) and the reasonable price:

Sweet Pick-Up Luke! I love that pose, and with the Pittsburgh connection, I was in on it for a little while but could tell somebody wanted it more than me. Here's my only pre-war Sterling win:

I should have said border not borders. I have a bunch of unaltered E94s but none have a huge right border like this card...

DeanH3 08-08-2014 10:45 AM

I have wanted this pose for quite some time. The tougher back is an added bonus.

My Louisiana obsession continues... I may need to get a second job.

On the bright side, I'm about 14% done with the known Tango Eggs set.:p

Awesome card, Zach! The crispness of that card sure made it's listing stand out. Great pick up!

Certainly not a very popular set and in fact are stamps, not cards, but the 1944 Yankees set commemorating the 1943 world champs is one of the few color issues of the era. There was a set that had languished on BST for a while and I decided to pick it up and package it for better enjoyment. Could think of worse ways to spend a rainy Friday night.

Wow Todd, those look incredible. Not being familiar with the issue, I figured I was looking at a modern "buyback" issue until I read the description. Nicely done.

Richard.

I've been eyeing this '37 Wheaties "card" of Joltin' Joe for some time. I finally pulled the trigger ...

deadballfreaK 08-10-2014 11:08 PM

Well, this qualifies as an August "Pickup" because I literally just picked up some cards off the floor that I didn't even know I had. Scratching around in a spare room we have which is pretty much a junk room, I found six graded cards which had fallen behind a desk and were completely forgotten about. 4 of them were not exciting. 1967 Topps football cards PSA 7 and 8 of Miller Farr, Frank Jackson, Art Powell, and Larry Elkins. I actually remember winning these cards off ebay for 99 cents each. Not sure why I wanted them, but a good price. The other two much better and have me mystified. 1913 Tom Barker game cards of Christy Mathewson and Ed Walsh. Both SGC 70/5.5. I don't remember these cards for the life of me. I assume they came from a time when I was drinking heavily. Not like yesterday, I mean REALLY heavily. Still a nice "Pickup"!

Luke 08-10-2014 11:19 PM

Okay, here we go again with this Monster thing. I'm going to approach this a little differently this time. Sure I will. The Monster will never see me coming. I'm going to sneak up on him all silent like. At least I can honestly say that this is the best condition Ty Cobb card I've ever owned... hands down.

<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/-8XVAj9gJP9iym1tuBEwgEbbPrYp6YHrRqcN_cfzkkQ?feat=em bedwebsite"><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-FBbI_Xc6hOg/U-lk8dY_OiI/AAAAAAAAhHA/AMLjQFt7Sto/s800/Cobb_Red_SGC_60.jpg" height="800" width="486" /></a>

Also picked up the cleanest Chase-Trophy I've ever owned. Quite happy with this pair. And now my unsigned T206 collection now stands at 20 examples. Once I had 521...

Awesome Cobb and Chase. Very difficult to find a red Cobby with great color, registration and centering all in one card. Well done!

AMBST95 08-12-2014 03:23 PM

That's a beautiful Cobb! I've picked up a few more, so I thought I'd share.
