Richard & the Simon Family,
I just read through this thread for the 1st time... Life is so full of trials! Most say the least said at these times is the best... Well, I remind myself daily of How Precious our Moments Here can be!? So Good to hear that You are doing well!!! I will keep You & Yours iN my Prayers... As Always... |
I am back home.
Got home late Saturday afternoon. I want to thank everyone who has posted in the two threads that were started about me. Your good wishes and comments were all very much appreciated. I did have thyroid cancer. That calls for major surgery which took about 8 hours. After surgery my oxygen level was low so the breathing tube was kept in for some time. I had an outstanding surgeon. I was told by the nursing staff that he is considered world class. I was in Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in NYC, there is no Columbia-Jewish Hospital in NYC :):). Thyroid cancer is fortunately for me a cancer that has a high rate of complete recovery so my prognosis for the long time is excellent. The part that is not so wonderful is that my voice is raspy now and I have to cut up my food into tiny pieces :). I also will have to probably take 11 pills a day for the rest of my life to mostly make up for the calcium that the thyroid supplies to my body. And the scheduling of those pills is annoying but I am alive and well so I can live with an annoying lifetime pill schedule and chewing my food carefully for a short time. Again, thanks to all for all your good thoughts for me and my family and hopefully all will be well. |
Glad to have you back, Richard.
|
Richard,
Excellent news. Glad you came through it so well. Best, Mark |
Glad you're doing well.
|
Richard,
From a new guy on this forum, I wish you a speedy recovery. Obviously, unless we are told, we have no idea what goes on behind the screen. I'm glad your prognosis looks good. Remember, 11 pills a day helps keep the doctor away. Quote:

Glad to hear you are doing as well as can be expected Richard. Here's to a speedy rest of your recovery!! (don't all of us older guys take lots of pills?)
|
I wish you and your family the best, Richard, and it's good to see you posting again.
|
Richard,
I heard you were going in for "a procedure" but I had no idea it was so serious! I just read the thread from the start--the first few pages were real nail-biters--and I am so relieved to hear how well you've progressed. Another friend had thyroid cancer a few years ago, and he's doing very well; it hasn't slowed him down at all after recovery from the surgery. I'm glad to hear that you're doing well, too. My tardy thoughts are with you and your family. Steve |
Hope you feel better soon Richard.
|
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Richard.
