I don't have mine yet. They must be coming to Oklahoma by pony express.

I heard around Weds. Can't wait

calvindog 03-30-2014 05:02 PM

Any thoughts on the actual auction?

MattyC 03-30-2014 05:34 PM

Everybody just take ten steps back from both the Ty Cobb back and the 8.5 CJ Cobb. I'm calling dibs.

Or is it dibbs?

I am amazed by the offerings in the catalog & hope to win a few lots, more if the wife let's me sell the house-not happening.
When I saw the catalog over 3,000, maybe 4,000 T206's being sold...all the T204's etc. etc. .. it did make me wonder:
Is there ever a turn in this hobby where the vast amount of items auctioned brings prices down or the incredible offerings only lead to new collectors and prices going higher. Or it's just the way it is. I guess supply and demand of the hobby intrigue me. I love the supply here & wish the demand was beneficial to my collecting dreams

gnaz01 03-30-2014 07:05 PM

Has not arrived in South Florida

baseballart 03-30-2014 07:23 PM

What rare books are there (he asks, not being able to wait, and besides of course the one I have consigned :-) )

True there is much more material available via auction these days but at the same time the websites where dealers listed large inventories of cards for, if not reasonable, at least plausible prices, are mostly gone; and the number of true ebay auctions is down as well; so I think the supply overall is probably about the same.

mcap100176 03-30-2014 07:37 PM

I actually got mine on Thursday. Took me until today to go through everything.

Didn't know PSA graded catalogs.

Chuck Norris got his catalog before they were printed.

oldjudge 03-30-2014 08:56 PM

LOL, I guess I'm the only one in California to not get one yet

Chuck Norris just finished reading this year's REA Fall auction catalog.

Peter_Spaeth 03-30-2014 09:28 PM

Chuck Norris doesn't need a catalog; what's in the catalog is just what's left after he takes the cards he wants.

Not the only one. :(

BengoughingForAwhile 03-31-2014 09:55 AM

REA Catalog was just dropped on my front porch in suburban Chicago! Unfortunately, the weight of the catalog collapsed the porch and now I need to call a concrete contractor. :(
Then again maybe I'll wait until after the auction ends to make that call. I can always use the back door for awhile! :)

ullmandds 03-31-2014 10:03 AM

Peter, are you trying to convince auction houses to accept bitcoin? If so, I've got a bunch in my Mt. Gox account that are just sitting there ... oh wait.

Kawika 03-31-2014 10:43 AM

Chuck Norris was going to deliver my catalog to Victoria but he got bitch slapped by Canada Customs.

brianp-beme 03-31-2014 11:04 AM

Charles Norris

Who is this Mr. Norris fellow with abnormal abilities that you speak of? Is he employed by REA?

Or perhaps this mysterious man is just a superhero doing what is best for mankind, and specifically, the vintage sports collecting community? Please inform those not privy to this apparently omnipotent being.

Brian

ullmandds 03-31-2014 11:07 AM

mr norris is the guy who adds the weight and the smell to each and every REA catalog...that everyone loves to bring up again...and again...and again!!!!:p:p

Kawika 03-31-2014 11:08 AM

If Chuck Norris were employed by REA I wouldn't want to be Peter Nash.

Canadians and mean just don't go together. If they slapped him I am sure that it was by accident.

I wish that stereotype was correct. Spend a Friday night on Granville Street in Vancouver or Pandora Ave in Victoria or a thousand other burgs across the Great White North at closing time, Alex, and you might revise your estimate. It is true though that after a Canadian breaks a guy's head open he will apologize.

Things have been known to get a little crazy out there in Vancouver, i.e. Canucks playoff loss to the Bruins a few years ago and lets not forget the Canucks playoff loss to the Rangers in 1994.

I think they need to smoke a little more MJ to mellow out a little.

Got these in today:
REA, MileHigh & Goldin
Talking about a bunch of reading material. As a post-war guy, I love the large quad pics on the cover of MileHigh. (Mantle, Jackie, Eddie, and i think Capanella)

gnaz01 03-31-2014 03:13 PM

Came today in South Florida

Republicaninmass 03-31-2014 03:21 PM

Here in Mass, along with Mile High

nolemmings 03-31-2014 03:43 PM

Picked mine up an hour ago--arrived in the office weekend mail. Chock full of goodies as usual. Some neat Negro League items, pinbacks, Diamond Stars display box, Roy Campanella signed items-- I literally just open to a page at random and it takes no time at all to find some great stuff, although that's hardly breaking news.

tribefan 03-31-2014 05:04 PM

Got mine today, so much for cleaning the yard after work!

uffda51 03-31-2014 05:16 PM

Got mine yesterday. Nice stuff!

LKeeler 03-31-2014 05:45 PM

Catalog arrived in Wyoming!

oldjudge 03-31-2014 05:50 PM

Mine finally showed up. Great stuff, but surprisingly little Old Judge material, except for the McGreachery.

baseballart 03-31-2014 06:29 PM

Imagine my excitement today when I opened the mailbox. A catalog! In Canada, and Vancouver, on the far west coast. What service fromREA, I thought . Trembling with anticipation, and, then, hey, you know what happened next... My Legendary auction catalogs were in the wrapping , long after the auction ended.

LOL - I got the Legendary stuff one month + a day after the auction ended. Legendarily Late.

Cheers,
Blair

Arrived in STL

Jewish-collector 03-31-2014 07:57 PM

Agreed, if I counted right, 3 N172s, 2 N173s, & 2 N175s, but a lot of high quality items. Should be a great auction.

whiteymet 03-31-2014 10:59 PM

REA Catalog

I'm in NJ about 1 1/2 hrs from Rob and NO catalog!! How do you guys rate??

shammus 04-01-2014 07:28 AM

Soooo, any ideas when the auction starts? I kind of figured I'd wake up and see it off and running this morning. And I've never really seen a "start time" listed anywhere....

SmokyBurgess 04-01-2014 07:39 AM

catalog

Still waiting in central NC....but gives me more time to sharpen up my sense of smell.
