That's an awesome run of Cobbs, Jamie!
I have to admit, you have me thinking about trying the same thing, albiet perhaps at a smaller scale (one for each manufacturer). Jamie/Bill, Thank you very much for the nice words about the Dahlen. It's been pretty frustrating. I've been looking for a Dahlen for a few years now, but they just haven't been showing up. It seems people have been holding on to them in hopes of his making it into the HOF. I just missed a couple others within the past 6 months or so, so I'm very glad to finally get one. Steve |

A lot of Tolstoi's i see are somewhat faded, this one is a very bold example. Also a little WST action on front for Johnny's viewing pleasure. :)

I would like to thank Kevin for helping me get one step closer to finishing a run on Manning. First four poses down, two more to go. Kevin traded a Manning for a Manning to help me out. Thank you Jay & Cambridge collection for allowing me to obtain acceptable trade material. |

Great book
I know it's not a card but i just received The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin and Company (1886-1890) that purchased on Amazon. I don't (yet) collect the cards from this era but this is still an amazing book for anyone interested in vintage cards.

As you all may be aware by now, one of my collecting focuses is Sam Rice cards, all backs/variations. Due to my early-Alzheimer's-like memory, I managed to acquire two E121/80 cards with Type 1 Reverse backs. A few weeks ago, in a thread re E121/80 backs, another Board member showed his Rice card with a Type 2 back. So, I contacted him, and he very kindly agreed to do a trade with me. Are Net 54 Board members great folks, or what?!! Bill, again I say, MANY THANKS!

February pick-ups
Val - great looking Rice card!
Here's my most recent pick-up...a 1912 Olympiska Spelens PC of Mr. Jim Thorpe. Although not baseball, I think we can make an exception for the former Giants and PCL player... http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...2%20Thorpe.jpghttp://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...e%20_back_.jpg |
It was a battle on ebay just now, but I always wanted one of these-- and not enough of'em to go around...

That certainly is a fresh old T205 Yankee card. 97 Steals!
Wonka-- very much appreciated. I know you've seen 'em all. Ty-- oh it took a toll; I am utterly tapped now with that Joe and the Satchel SP. Might've shot the 2014 load already in Feb! |

I have been looking for one of these for the past two years and I ended up finding three of them. I put a T213-2 next to one of the T82's for comparison. The T82 is slightly wider and taller than a T213.

Not sure if I posted these two yet Bugs Raymond cards yet.
The first is a super-rare red border Colgan Chip. What is particularly interesting about this one is that the red borders, I believe, were only made in 1912. Bugs didn't play Major League ball at all that year and actually died in early September. I would love to know if any Tin Tops were made of Bugs, but since those seem to have been produced after the red borders, I sort of doubt it. The second just came back from SGC. The color on this silk just pops. It is far brighter in-person. |

Nice look SGC 10 |
T205 Cobb
Yeah the back has some paper missing but I can live with it!!

That T205 Cobb has a clean white baseball and no red on the basepaths as well. So many have that red ink shifted over. Great call picking that up.

A little OT. I bought this because of the picture and I because this gentleman-and he was a gentleman-was the only pre-WWII ballplayer I ever met.

Two pickups with the last of my ebay bucks...R303-b Simmons and a duplicate W554 McWeeny I picked up thinking I still needed one (oops)

Black Swamp Find Mack Miscut
This finally arrived today. To me this card is Gem Mint, I am just glad that SGC gave it a technical grade of "Good" so that I could afford it. Factory errors, to me, shouldn't be counted against the grade of a card (especially to the extent it was with this card).
I don't have time to scan, and HA has great scans already so I will just use theirs: http://dyn2.heritagestatic.com/lf?se...oduct.chain%5Dhttp://dyn1.heritagestatic.com/lf?se...oduct.chain%5D |

From the Lawson's Game--the very first baseball card game, so it's said. This is one of the rarest cards in the set. 1884. I guess this makes this my oldest card.

For the record I have owned several sets and all of the cards are exactly equal in rarity, in my experiences. We might even have a nice raw set in our upcoming auction, as we have before. |
Leon in the set there are multiple cards of some, like the Striker and some cards are solo like the Umpire.
|
Leon, according to Pop reports (which I know don't represent all cards) the "Striker" card (which I also have) and one other appear in dozens of copies, all of the others only a handful at PSA and another handful at SGC... so from that, yes, there are two "commons" and the rest about equally scarce..

Here's the Striker, of which we speak, by far the most common in the set...
