Wonkaticket - that poster is amazing! Is it in as good condition as it looks? Those things are pretty brittle. I love it.
And Ken, great negro league PC. I wonder if the dude in the back knew he'd be called a photo bomber 100 years later? Here's my June acquisition. I always admired JOhn M. Ward and thought he must have been a real smart, well rounded guy. Pitcher, Shortstop, Lawyer, HOFer. Nice career. |

Excited to add these to the collection. I think the blue text of the T-213's is aesthetically superior to the T-206's black font. And the Ewing/Mascot is, in my humble opinion, one of the most unique OJ's. Thanks to a board member for it!

great pick-ups so far this month!
This is my first "legit" Ruth card, although it certainly wouldn't classify as a "rookie card" as it was issued in 1920!! I was looking at Ruth's stats today...how in the world did he leg out 16 triples in 1921?? Was the defense that shoddy, was he that fast, or were the parks that much larger? That season he had a whopping 44 doubles, 16 triples, AND 59 home runs to go with his 177 runs and 171 RBI's! It's amazing to think that he almost scored as many runs as he knocked in over his career...was it the product of a great lineup behind him or his blazing speed?? He did steal 17 bases that season. Just sayin'. |
Derek - love the vibrant colors on that Ruth.
Peter - That Newsboy cab of Ward is fantastic!! |

Jimi, Matt, thanks on the A's card.
Peter nice Ward cabinet. Great find. Also, like the postcards. There are still a lot of hard to find n172 cards for sale in BST. Here are a few more from there... Attachment 101742Attachment 101743 Attachment 101744Attachment 101745 Attachment 101746 |

Great find, Chris.

RC, nice pick-up on the Crogan, I wanted that one too!
|
n172 Crogan
Matt, thanks. I was looking for OJ cards that pictured players who at one time played for Houston. Crogan played for the 1890 Houston Mudcats along with Charles Krehmeyer. From what I've read, Krehmeyer is very difficult. If I get ready to get rid of the Crogan I will let you know.

Congrats Chris great card.

Rob - I also collect OJ players that played in Nashville & Krehmeyer played in Nashville as well. He's impossible as I believe there are either 1 or 2 known of his California League card. Have you figured out how many Houston OJ players there might be ? (I have the Nashville count at 27 players) Picked up this little jewel after patiently waiting 2 years to get it at the right price - |
My best pickup in a while...

Saw this on Ebay and took a chance on it being legit since I couldn't find another like it. Worked out well. T206 Lord with reddish/brown background at the bottom. Not sure how it got like that since they are usually just all blue. The red/brown goes into the shadows on the uniform too, usually it is grey, although the grey is still there too. Maybe someone was having fun at the t206 factory, who knows. I'm probably going to sell it because I don't trust the unknown, reeks of evil

Great cabinet team card, Travis.
On the purple in the T206, since the other main color in the uniform is red, maybe the red mixed with the blue background. Jeremy, to answer your question about Houston players in n172, I believe I have found four, need to check my notes, but I have only recently begun researching early Houston baseball. I have a few team photos from late 40's early 50's. The oldest Houston team piece I have is a new arrival, a 1931 Houston Buffs team photo featuring Dizzy Dean, Tex Carelton and Ducky Medwick. I don't have a better way of describing the Polo Grounds. You should try to find a picture of it to really understand how unusual it was. As for your card, what is up with Ruth throwing righthanded? |
Ruth's early speed:
In the fifth game of the 1921 World Series, Ruth led off the fourth inning with a bunt single. He scored on Muusel's double to left field. |

^^^ I agree, Patrick -- very nice image on that card!
Added what is likely the best conditioned T206 to the collection, although it sits in a PSA 5 holder due to some light printing on the reverse (that's my guess, at least)... http://photos.imageevent.com/ltsgall...T206%20Nap.jpg |
