Nothing. Anything that I have ultimately is for sale--it's just stuff, after all--but the rare stuff would be for sale only with a mark-up over what I consider to be the real value. I suppose the last things I'd want to sell are the cards I got when I was a kid and still have. There are a few of them. They aren't worth much, relatively speaking, but they remind me of my childhood so I'd just as soon not sell them even at a substantial mark-up. Now, if you want to give me life-altering money for them, I will not only sell, I will carry them to your car for you. I may be dumb but I'm not stupid, after all.

Adrian, first off, I'm very glad you came back. You provide thought-provoking threads and responses. Our hobby needs that more than ever. With that, keep taking the time to stick in that 'ol punctuation; makes your worthwhile comments easier to read and more creditable.;)

1) I was blessed to be able to get a 1954 Stahl-Meyer Franks of Mickey Mantle in 1989. The owner gave me 2-3 months to raise the money and agreed to hold it for me. I managed to just pull it off, through SCD sales. It was easier to do that then. So, I turned $2,500 worth of cards into 1 single card. Absolutely, positively marvelous card. If a card could be breathtaking, this one has it. Eventually, in 2008, I got the Mantle graded by SGC. Because of its one problem, it received 50 VG-EX, but I figured it would. The problem is a half-inch back crease from the middle side in (you cannot see it on the front). Years later, the man who sold it to me got a chance to see it again and remarked, "I forgot how great that card looked."

2) Though not a card, I have a mint 1935 Chicago Cubs World Series press pin. I traded rather heavily for it. It was the pin issued to the AL president, Will Harridge. I never tire of looking at that gorgeous artifact. To think, the Cubs won their last 21 games of the season to take down the defending Series champions, the Cardinals. Mr. Wrigley was very frugal, and did not make pins for every Tom, Dick, and Harry. They weren't facing NY either, so the press corps attending this Series was not as humongous as would have been the case if the Yanks had been their opponent. That's why of the 5 Series pins of that era involving the Cubs, the 1935 is the toughest, and perhaps the prettiest of the 5. Sure wish the Cubs had won their last 21 in 1969. Oh well, it was great while it lasted.

I'm not sure that there is a current "market value" for these since they are one-of-a-kind and have not been offered on the open market, but I would not take 5x the highest price paid for any other N167 common.

50% over market value is the same as 150% of market value.

In reality it would be silly for anyone to not sell a card for 50% over market value since they could just buy another and keep the 50% profit. The only exception would be cards with sentimental value (a replacement just isn't the same) or where something is rare enough that another will not come around for awhile.

For me it's the following with no established value and these are the only ones known to exist. What's cooler than a 19th century gladiator card (N197)and a Robert E Lee general card (T64) that was not know to exist until recently.

Cards I will not sell
 

My 1958 Topps Baseball "master set" in SGC is something I will not sell. Hoping to pass it down to the grandkids as soon I have it at 100% (now at 78%). With regrets of selling other cards over the years and making the mistake to think you can get them back, Ive learned some valuable lessons. Keep the cards you like cause once they are gone..........they are gone.

Here are 2 cards I won't sell. Two reasons; (1)They would be too hard to replace. (2) I'm the only kid on the block that has them this nice.

probably my e104-3 Doolan (in my avatar), and maybe my e107 Murphy. Anything else can be had for a good price. Those two cards aren't even the most expensive cards in my collect; rather, they are two cards I would have extreme difficulty replacing.

Id sell every card and set I own...for 50% of book if I could

For me I can't pick two to not sell. I collect cards period. I haven't sold a single one in 33 years.

for me, it would have to be personally obtained cards of now-deceased players. Anything else I have, even if very difficult to replace, doesn't have the same sort of sentimental value.

Probably these two cards as they both came out of Zach Wheats Scrapbook. Zach Wheats T206 of himself is pretty special to me.

2) Complete 1975 Topps set I collected as a kid

1) Social Security Card

2) Library Card

At 50% above market, anything else is up for grabs. :)

If I had to sell everything I owned (not just baseball cards) the last thing I would part with is my 1909 PSA 6 Philadelphia Caramel Eddie Cicotte...

the card that is probably the most special to me...is not vintage...it is the 77' Burger King short print lou pinella card...#23. I offered my buddy a 67' topps brooks robinson for his but he wouldn't part with his.

I now have 2 and I would not take $20 for either one of them...ever!!!!!

I'm with Eric on the SS card but number two has to be my insurance card.

I would sell my Mantle Bowman and Topps PSA-1 rookies for 40-50% over value, then use the money to re-buy them in a little better condition.

150% of market value would get me to sell probably most of my collection, but not these (don't think the market value is very high on them) ...
