What chilling sarcasm I sense? Whatever the case is, thank you, I just like buying Mantle cards I find local (poor or mint) ;)

Mantle Clutch Home Run

I love that card. I actually went to one game of the 64 Series in St Louis. Topps really messed up with this card which shows Mantle wiffing on a Gibson fastball. The actual HR was hit off Barney Schultz

No sarcasm at all. Your pickups this month are amazing. It is nice to see other Mantle collectors posting. And, I am very pleased that your cards have been higher grade--less competition for me!

grades 3-6 is my range too.. I was outbidded on some Who Am I raw cards.
of Mantle and Mays...yeah raw...but they went for double the BV...CRAZY!!!
Currently have some bids out for the next few days...theres something i really like to have..(sorry not telling)

Heritage has some NICE 52's #311 graded cards-- low grades..Reasonable!!
Only if i had the $$$. i most certainity get one. Theres like 4 of them if i remember and they have some higher end one...like a Berk Ross i want too.
** Everyone chip in some money,, and we can do a timeshare program :D

BTW- i looked at the REA auction....there a decent Koufax RC and AUTO...but its a 4 and a slight un-noitceable crease...still appealing for a average collector.

pawpawdiv9 04-13-2013 01:03 PM

almost forgot----they do have a COLLECTION of 1960 POST CEREAL.....for those that didnt enough from my pics...LOOK at THIS:
http://sports.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...No=80694#Photo
1960 Post Cereal "Sports Stars" Complete Set (9) Plus Mantle Cereal Box or Store Display Ad. The immediate response to "rarely offered" is often a roll of the eye balls. Not this time. The thought of acquiring a rarely offered complete set of all nine 1960 Post Cereal athletes, a line up topped by Mickey Mantle is an envious gaze, made the more so by an almost impossible Mantle advertising piece. Their large size and circulation as the back of cereal boxes has resulted in a supply which sadly fails to meet demand. The 1960 Post Cereal set is highly treasured by hobbyists all too well accustomed to not finding any after pursuing auction catalogs and dealer tables. Their rarity confirmed after decades of the Internet has failed to produce any notable extra supply. The beautifully made, full-color, 7 x 8-3/4" cards came one per box, consuming most of the back panel of Post Grape-Nut Flakes boxes. Each measures full size or is 1/16 shy unless noted. Representing multiple sports, the set includes the following Hall of Famers: Bob Cousy (7x8-5/8"), Don Drysdale (FR, tape) plus side panel bio, Frank Gifford, Al Kaline plus side panel bio, Harmon Killebrew, Mickey Mantle (6-1/2 x 8-1/2"), Eddie Mathews (6-7/8" x 8-11/16", light tape stains), Bob Petit and Johnny Unitas. Also included is a 6-1/2" x 9" ad card with Mickey Mantle that was hand cut from either some type of store display piece or more than likely from a Post cereal box announcing the upcoming promotion. Each has creases largely limited to the black inner frame and wood border areas and are technically GD with better visual appeal. Guide Value or Estimate: $3,000 -

HERIATGE IS JUST FLOODED WITH MICKEY MANTLES IN THIS AUCTION!!!![/SIZE]

Had some bids in today...and from MemoryLaneInc.

1. Got outbidded far beyond what i thought BV was on a Topps stand-up PSA 4, i figured around 150 BV, but expected to pay near 200, because i desired to have one..but it went for around 225 or so.

2. Only bidded on it, just because it was a PSA 6..and i didnt have one yet. Looked good enough to grab...and i did WIN for about 1/2 the price.

Cool cards, all! Really dig that signed '64 Topps Giant Gibson.

Here's a new card that arrived this week. Joe D. knocked it out of the park on this one...

pawpawdiv9 04-19-2013 09:01 AM

FYI-- just got back a submission status report.
The 1960 Post Cereal has been graded...and they did give it a numerical grade
Coming back a SGC 10....1of2 highest graded by SGC..Whooooo!
The 1929 Shoew Japanese Bae Ruth...is another story.
It is coming back labeled as a 1928 Shonen Kulubu Babe Ruth and graded a SGC 40
The 65 Namath did not do so great...coming back way under expectations. SGC 30

Haha, now you will have responses to two guys named Chris.... I prefer Chris to my stupid username anyway (someone hacked my eBay account years ago and changed the name to Best. I just use it now for consistency).

I've refreshed this darn page 57 times to get a glimpse of your most recent pick-up! We want scans! We want scans!! I want to see a card other than Mantle for once!

You're in luck, Derek, the Palmer came in the mail today. Now, just have to scan it. BTW also picked up a 1940's RPPC of Warren Giles.

Carew actually lives close to me in Southern California. Nice guy and still chews like Nellie Fox. He's always happy to sign an auto for someone which is awesome because I have a couple RCs I might ask him to sign when I go back home

Awesome & Random Pickup

:DWell I had an interesting day to say the least! I just got home from picking up an array of baseball cards and memorabilia. Got two binders filled cards with years ranging from 1953-1971. There’s about 100+ Post Cereal Cards from 1961-1963 with virtually every star (4 Mantles total I think). Also found a couple Rodeo Meats cards and a Mickey Mantle Exhibit (no outline) hiding in the binders. Got a nice handful of rookies and tons of stars/HOFs. Unfortunately, all the stars from 53-56 have pinholes (like the 55T Williams and Robinson)…

Cards are still gorgeous and I couldn’t be happier!!! There was also a set of 1964 Topps Giants. Lastly, I topped it off with a nice 1st Issue Sports Illustrated and a sweet Jackie Robinson Magazine from 1950 Sport Life. Still digging so I will update more if I find any more awesome stuff!! All in all, great day :D

These are my most notable and worthy of posting.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8260/8...1b662b2b_c.jpg
Just a bunch of nrmt RCs and Hofs. They are all just sharp corners except for 67 Robinson

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8257/8...0b84be94_c.jpg
First Rodeo Meats cards. Interesting. EDIT: just realized Elston Howard slipped in there. I don't know why I was thinking it was Norm Cash....

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8264/8...680024f3_c.jpg
Even though they are a little roughed up its still my first 55 Williams:)

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8255/8...512e7be5c2.jpg
This is going to get framed. The magazine is just a great piece of history I think. Anyways still have a bunch to go through but this is just some noteworthy things I have found.
