I picked it up at the national this summer. I was told it could be a "2nd one" and that he probably does have the original one. this was all conjecture on the part of the seller.

Eagles uniform
Tough to pick my favorite 2012 pickup, but after some pondering, it would have be picking up a couple of pieces to complete my 1969-1972 Philadelphia Eagles game used uniform. I have had the pants for several years - they date to 1971-72. I picked up the circa 1969-70 Tom Woodeshick helmet with the help of Carlton's last Chicago national writeup. After seeing his photos last year, I spotted the helmet in the case of one of the dealers. Carlton helped me by identifying the dealer, and after some phone calls, I was able to land a helmet that I had been after for a while. Then later in 2012 I was able to convince a fellow collector to part with his circa 1970 Gary Ballman Philadelphia Eagles white jersey with several team repairs. I had the jersey authenticated by Mears after I received it, and was thrilled to complete the ensemble. The socks and cleats aren't Eagles worn, but found a pair of unworn Spotbilt cleats that most Eagles players of that era wore to try to make the mannequin display as accurate as possible.

Nice game worn display! Really impressive. Might I suggest some eye black on the mannequin's face?

Eagles display
Eye black is a very good idea- thanks. Will give the mannequin's face a tougher look.

I picked up some nice things this year, but this is one of my favorites. My grandkids love coming in my office and hitting me up for pennies so they can get their treats.

I think it will take more than eye black to make the mannequin look tougher. It appears to have a female appearance. Jerry |
Mannequin
Thanks Jerry.
And yes, I was being sort of sarcastic about the mannequin becoming tougher. It is a male mannequin, and quite tall at about 6'5", but unfortunately almost all mannequins come with a mascara'd look to their eyes. Thats what gives that feminine appearance. The eye black will help, but not dramatically. |
You are a true collector to have one of those KJ!
|
Thanks James - Thankfully I have a very understanding wife, in letting me have 7 mannequins in my Eagles room! I am sure it it would be an issue if I tried to invade our main floor with my collection, but she pretty much lets me run amuck in my finished basement :)
Only 2 of the mannequins are full body mannequins - the others are just torso mannequins, but all of them are fitted with shoulder pads. |
Buy a rubber mask for that mannequin.
This one would look pretty good: http://www.rubbergorilla.co.uk/IMAGE...guy%20mask.jpg |

Egads!
Guys
I don't collect much memorabilia...and because of that I don't click on this side of the board too often. This Thread is like a "Greatest Hits" record and I cannot get over how many nice items are here! Egads I couldn't pick even 10 favorites without fear of leaving off many great pieces. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year! (OK- Adam's restored exhibit machine and Scott's CDV may be my favorites, although the Lou Gehrig photo lying in state is pretty unforgettable) |
Reach Advertising Sign

My favorite pickup this last year is this cardboard Reach sign. It measures a whopping 16" x 20". I haven't located anything that has sold that is this large, nor have I found this exact sign. Guessing it might date to the 1920's. It is framed in plexiglass which I have been afraid to take it out of. Sorry for the glare. Mike

The 1923 Jack Dempsey - Tommy Gibbons fight pennant lot was my biggest pick-up.
I also had some success adding more St. Paul Saints bats to the collection; Russ Van Atta, Larry Rosenthal, Norm McMillan, Braggo Roth, Johnny Neun, Chicken Hawks, and Mark Koenig (store model). Thanks! Chris |
That Hawks bat is awesome!! Koenig is a very rare store bat as I'm sure you know.

1. Circa 1880's JF Draper advertising envelope featuring Irwin style base ball gloves and mittens. 2. Circa 1850's/1860's baseball/firemen's parade belt...alot of research confirms that these types of belts were used equally by both. 3. Assortment of Brooklyn Dodger Collection

New to the Forum and Net54 but enjoying it immensely. My aunt was a big
Brooklyn Dodger Fan and I inherited some of her keepsakes when she passed. Thought I share some with you. Comments welcome, particularly about the Home Coming 1951 Diner which she attended and had some of the players sign the program. Hope they came through.
