July 1916 Babe Ruth Red Sox Photo in The Boys' Magazine
1 Attachment(s)
Just picked this beauty up. Never even knew it existed but it is one of the earliest photos of Ruth in a magazine. Pretty neat. :o
|
The little card is a 1923 Maple Crispette of Sam Bohne, born Samuel Cohen. The other card is graded low more due to back damage than to the front.

So despite being a Cub fan and card collector for most of my life, this is my first ever card of a Cub World Series winner. E107s are breathtaking, but a Cubs HOF world series winner is pretty darn rare in its own right. It's not in hand yet, but I just couldn't wait to cruise over here and post it up. :D

Thank You, Eric:

Nice pick-up, Brian, on most of a Ross Youngs card (that's actually the first time I have seen that card in any condition, the Giants and Senators are really, really tough).
|
Thank You, Phil. I also have all the catalogued Washington Senators.
|
Do you have any of the team cards, Brian?
I just picked up the Yankees team card which actually pictures the 1923 Yankees with Lou Gehrig in his first season. At one time, that made me believe that the W504 set may have been produced in 1923 or 1924 but based on the individual Yankee cards, it appears that it was indeed a 1925 issue and they just used an old team photo from a couple of years earlier. |

i just start to collect t206, i think it is a life project. It is my first purchase on ebay today.

Picked these up off of Ebay a couple of weeks ago. Had never seen miscut reverse like this on E121's before.

Added the green winners stripe to go along with my red one. Not exactly an upside down overprint T206 back, but it's the best one can do when you are collecting the W517 set :). Guess I'm supposed to do some cartwheels now.
Lovely Day... |

Sterling Sports Winnings
Dropped out of the signed T206 Marquard bidding at about half of the final bid, but I couldn't resist this reasonably priced Southern Leaguer...

Yes these cards probably belong in the 2002 Pickup Thread, I've probably had them that long, but they are just back from SGC after years in the dark lonely closet...scanned, registered and ready to share...

Wow! Nice T210 Kipp, Jeremy. I'm jealous :-(
BTW Mr. Hayes arrived, nice card, thanks. tbob |
Something about that E220 is very striking.
Thanks for the prompting to research a[nother] set that I have neither the patience, nor the funds to collect ;) Regards, Richard. |
Just got back from the Tyson's Corner, VA show where I picked up these two portraits from Net54's own Ken Cohen. I'm in love with the portraits from this set. Thanks Ken!
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...cauley/pu1.jpg Also picked this one up from Steve B. off of the B/S/T. Thanks Steve! http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...cauley/pu2.jpg |

My lone recent pre-war pickup, thank you Brian...I also wasted a couple of bucks on a Just So Cy Young re-print. Sure, I could've made one myself, but I'm just lazy..
|
Love the Just So - Young, David.
If you come across a graded one, you know where to find me........ |

The scarcest of the 3 Bresnahan variations and one of the toughest pins to find in the set, "mouth open."
If anyone has a Erwin, Marquard, Needham, O'Leary, Heinie Wagner or Warhop for sale, I'd sure like to complete this set... |
