Fortunately for the Washington Senators, Saccramento dealt George Earl McNeely to the Senators in August 1924, because it was McNeely's bad-hop ground-ball base hit that bounced over Freddie Lindstrom's head, driving in Muddy Ruel with the winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning of the 7th game of the 1924 World Series, making WaJo the winning pitcher of Washington's only World Series Championship!

It seems strange to me that McNeely's name is spelled correctly on his 1922 & 1924 Zeenuts cards, but incorrectly on his 1923 Zeenuts card. Thanks again to Mark M. for these 3 McNeely Zeenuts.

not a card, but I'm happy to have it

I recently won the April 6, 1916 edition of The Sporting News, which contains the first ad placed in that periodical by Felix Mendelsohn promoting his m101 set. The ad is 4 1/2 x 9", and is in much better shape than the rest of the issue:
http://photos.imageevent.com/imoverh...ndelsohnad.jpg
I always wanted this as a companion piece to my m101 cards.

My stuff usually doesnt hold a candle to the amazing items that come across here; but Im extremely pleased with these pickups Ive made over the past 2+ weeks. Given that I try to collect these specific players; finding them in these sets (or in any set, in the case of HW Rip Collins) requires some patience. (The 1st one was sourced from my neighbor GhostMarcelle - thanks!)

Mike,
That is a great card. I'm not sure if you were aware, but your Evers is missing a layer of color (Red I think). I have seen a handful of E93s like this. I have one Evers and also a Plank and a Tinker missing a layer of ink. Very cool. Here are my two Evers (yellow and orange) for comparison. 99% of E93 Evers I have seen are orange. Yours is only the second "yellow" Evers example I have seen. You can tell by looking at the face and glove that it is not just faded, but missing a layer of ink.

Jim, thanks for the info. I was not aware of this, but it's easy to see in your comparison. By the way those two Evers of yours are outstanding, it's always a pleasure to see cards from your collection.

Thanks again,
Mike

Hi Scott. Sold off the E90-1 set long ago, but I'm still plugging away at the monster as mentioned. I'm about half way home and still having a ball with it.

My Dad gave me this card for Christmas which was celebrated late this year. He purchased it 25 years ago at a local show in 1985 we figure. I was insistant for him to buy the card, I found, for 50 cents when i was 8 yrs old. He thought it could be something that gets passed down because of the memory involved with the card and it involved both of us. I think its the second most valuable card I own.
