Stagg played college baseball
Quote:
Russ, How big is that Stagg photo and is that a real autograph? Yeah most people associate Stagg with football. He never played pro but he was a big name in college baseball....lead pitcher who took Yale to five consecutive championhships...1886-1890. I did a story on it which revolved around an incredible cabinet photo of him and Jesse Chase Dann, link above. |
Yup... it's true. Here's some more info on Stagg as it relates to baseball, as well as a killer statue with him as the subject (sculpted by the renowned Bela Pratt).

Wow...unbelievable finds. Here are a few of mine. Regrettably.....I don't own some of these beautiful pieces anymore. The Rookie Gehrig EXHIBIT was accompanied with the Sisler and a lower grade Ty Cobb EXHIBIT(1927). Within the same week I stumbled across the 1928 World series Game 4 ticket. The others are also nice finds. All these pick up were over the last 2 years and I consider them finds because the costs to purchase was 1/20th of the market value today.

My best flea market finds came last year. I found a Joe Jackson Zinn Beck bat lodged in between two wheels of a trailer. I paid $3 for it. That same day I found an original stadium seat from Boston Garden. Then later in the year I found a beautiful Lou Gehrig store model bat for $40. All three items for $83.
