AMAZING stuff guys, really. Rick, those programs look beeyootiful.

I can't believe I won this guy for only $15:

Or maybe I'm just crazy.

Anywho, it's Tommy Henrich and co. celebrating after his solo homerun in the bottom of the 9th during the first game of the 1949 World Series. That was a mouthful.

This'll make an awesome painting someday...

Been quite some time since finding anything worthwhile at an antique mall. Really like this display even with the forehead damage:

Wow, thats a beautiful football sign! Its hard to gauge the dimensions in a photo, but it looks pretty large. Nice pickup.

Do you know if that advertisement is a representation of Wisconsin Badger Football?

Thanks Kjjavic, it is a little over 2 feet tall; should display nicely if I can find a spot for it.

Yes Hawkeye I do believe you are correct it is a Badger football player.

Picked up in may 2011

It has been a great month for me. Below are 3 of the highlights.

A pair of the most well known baseball portraits of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig by George Burke. Type 1s

This photo is great as it shows that Babe and Lou did travel west spreading the good word even in their prime, 1927. Type 1

The other day, I was looking through the clearance section at the local used book store, my typical rummage for cheap sports books. Picked up a handful of books. One of which was "Slick" by Whitey Ford. For $2, hell yeah. I normally wouldn't even bother mentioning the books, but it gets better. I open the damn thing up, and it's f*cking signed by Whitey. Quite possibly the best $2 I've ever spent.

Anyways, my total haul over the past few weeks has been(all hardcover with DJ)

Barnstorming to Heaven-$7(not clearance)
The Ken Burns Baseball book-$5
The Curse of the Bambino-$2
Now I can Die in Peace-$2
Say Hey-$2
Jackie Robinson:A Biography-$2
Out of Bounds(Jim Brown)-$2
Fumble:The Browns, Modell and the Move-$2
Clint Eastwood:A Biography-$2(I know it's not sports, but ya gotta love Clint)
and of course the signed copy of Slick-$2

I've got a lot of reading to do...Anyways, halfway through "Barnstorming to Heaven". It's a great read so far. I would definitely recommend it..

A big thank you to Graig for making this available to me...my dad went to this World Series as a kid (not sure which game, but I have his program and will have to figure that out based on the score he kept) and he also got a team photo from 1949, so this was a great piece to add to that mini-World Series collection...wish I had his ticket stub from the game.
