Thanks to board member dan s. For this one:)

Larry,
If it wasn't for me this card would be in my collection! :p I emailed Dan about it and he told me to let him know if I still wanted it because there was another gentlemen that was interested in it, but I had first dibs. I said well let him have the Wagner and I will take the Lewis T212 instead! I'd say we both made out quite well! :D Very nice card...

Speaking of Buffalo, Thank You, Justin for the trip down memory lane. I picked up these two from Justin and he mentioned he had picked up the cards from Baseball Card Palace (in Pittsburgh), which was George and Patty Ryden's business. George's yellow price stamp was still on the top loader. I go back with George to before he was married to Patty and I loved walking into the building on Penn Avenue where they had a shop and going up the elevator with the attendant who still operated the elevator with an old hand crank. Later, I would visit the Rydens at their store in the Jenkins Arcade which was a beautiful building. I also enjoyed their store on Brownsville Road where they lived.

Really nice Mathewson Steve! I don't have any yet, but I'm a big fan of the set. I especially like the Speaker, but the Matty is a real beauty too.

Been busy listing a bunch on the BST, but here are a few of my favorite keepers from the Beantown lot (back from SGC this month). The Matty is a 40 due to a tiny crease:

Howe’s Hunter 05-13-2011 12:57 PM

#170 just arrived from a long way from Gainesville

<a href="http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s81/T206ster/?action=view&amp;current=LaJoieFrontandBack.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s81/T206ster/LaJoieFrontandBack.jpg" border="0" alt="LaJoie Front and Back"></a>

Sorry for the bad scan, this is the scan from the eBay auction, but #170 just arrived from Burton on Trent, United Kingdom. Couple of things ... from everything I've found out about Howe, unless he went on a vacation at some point and time, he never left Gainesville. How did his card get all the way to England? And the number written on the card ... was someone else at some point and time in the process of rebuilding his collection, and they numbered them as they went along? I hope not, as that would mean there are at least another 52 I haven't come across yet....

Robextend 05-13-2011 04:34 PM

E91-C Complete!

Thanks to JB (jbbama) for a great transaction on the E91C Johnson. The Johnson was the last card I needed to complete this very unsexy but lovable caramel set. When I get it crossed over to SGC I will post a separate thread with the complete set links and more details.
