Bob, I was betting on you being a day behind me in Nashville with the delivery. Anywho, your Ozarks post reminded me of a splendid, but lengthy drive I made last fall from Nashville to Springfield, Mo. and I came through the Ozarks to get there.... Beautiful landscape and I bet there is much more that I didn't get to see... (My destination was Table Rock Lake)

Time honored tradition. :D

Sorry Peter but I just do not understand why someone would bother to read a thread titled "REA Just Arrived" and post a comment like you did. It is not like I am a newbie. Have been around since the good old days of Peter C, the many Bruce's (Brucii) and the debate over paid ads on the board. The REA catalog is exciting to someone like me that does not have any card shop within 180 miles in any direction.

Not that big of a deal...I would bet this thread has been started every April for the last 5 or 6 years. It's no secret that Net54 gets excited over the REA auction. Peter evidently does not.

Orions father 04-20-2011 11:08 PM

You are right Dan and I am probably over sensitive because I have not received my yearly fix of cardboard porn.

Hey Bob and Jeremy, I live in Springfield, MO (and get down to Table Rock Lake frequently)! And FWIW, my catalog arrived today! Actually, that IS worth something. :)

South Beach?

I was raised in Kendall in 70's and 80's(close to Miami Dade South).

We went to South beach for sun during day and clubs at night. Were you there when CLUB 1235 and Club Nu was there(in 80's)?

Memories of the 836, Miami Serpentarium, US 1, Youth Fair, Dadeland Mall.

First T206 at the Tropical Flea Market(LONG GONE).

Frank

Frank, no I wasn't here then. I moved down here in 1998 and ain't moving anywhere soon!!! The weather is too beautiful!!! :D

The 836 sure hasn't changed though, and the Dadeland Mall is still great, although the sights get better every day, if you know what I mean :p

Bicem 04-21-2011 08:08 AM

Peter,
I have not received my catalog yet just so you know.

Are the scans any larger than vs. the website?

Jeff,
Yes they are bigger in many cases.

GrayGhost 04-21-2011 01:32 PM

SteveKiwi 04-21-2011 02:27 PM

Just got mine

Just got mine, in Carrollton TX. I guess it takes Fedex 3 days to drive the 5 miles from Plano to Carrollton.

(this is a reference to Rich Klein saying he got his on Monday, making me anticipate all week :D)

Still waiting . . .

timber63401 04-21-2011 05:19 PM

Just got mine today. Looks awesome.

GoldenAge50s 04-21-2011 05:20 PM

Due to the large volume of PM's, EM's and telegrams I have been receiving asking whether I have gotten my REA catalog yet, I refer you to Post #20, which states that it came safely to my doorstep on Mon.

Thanks to all for their concern. God Bless.

Leon, that is good to know, although I am surprised you have not been making daily posts saying "not yet." If you had, your post would have been more dramatic.

Jeff P., be strong, it will be fine in the end.

:D

glchen 04-21-2011 05:58 PM

Received it today, near San Francisco.

Cat 04-21-2011 06:00 PM

I just now realized reporting the receipt of the REA catalog is mandatory. I received mine yesterday at approxinately 12:30 PM PST here in Southern California.

Yes, it smells like ink and stuff.

Kawika 04-21-2011 06:12 PM

I nevah get mines already.

4815162342 04-21-2011 06:55 PM

The catalog has made it to the Deep South.

Bicem 04-21-2011 07:52 PM

Hey Peter, great news!!! Mine arrived today!!!

Although I just filed it away, I'm not really a catalog guy.

mybuddyinc 04-21-2011 08:58 PM

Knock and drop here in Sav. today

GoldenAge50s 04-22-2011 08:53 PM

I'm thinking a contest w/ daily updates as to what page you are on and a prize for the one to get to the end of catalog first is probably in order. Those that have not recvd yet will get pro-rated days to make up the difference.

Exhibitman 04-22-2011 09:37 PM

Catalog arrived in beautiful downtown Burbank today. I had to stop reading after approximately 250 pages--just overloaded on prewar cards...

Collect Equity 04-22-2011 09:37 PM

I still haven't got mine in Utah. Hopefully tomorrow.

wonkaticket 04-22-2011 09:57 PM

I haven't really read this thread what's it about is there an auction or something going on can somebody fill me in....

kt4hx 04-23-2011 02:11 PM

Got mine a couple days ago, but just now (being a newcomer) realized the mandatory requirement for reporting it's receipt! :D

GoldenAge50s 04-23-2011 06:20 PM

Hi Alan----

---and welcome aboard! Be aware that you must report in each day w/ what page you are on, the Lots you are interested in and how you intend to pay.;)

kt4hx 04-23-2011 07:05 PM

Thanks Fred, appreciate the welcome. The lots I am watching are 1044 and 1053 primarily. Since I am an autograph collector, looks like I posted in the wrong section. Be that as it may, I wish you good luck with any lots you may be pursuing in REA.

Collect Equity 04-25-2011 09:08 PM

I win

My auction catalog finally arrived today here in Utah. I think I win as biggest loser for last person to receive their catalog

jcmtiger 04-25-2011 09:20 PM

Received mine today, Michigan, looking at all the items I can't afford:mad:

Nope - don't have mine yet, and last year received it on the Friday of the auction closing weekend. But I don't care, as I prefer the internet anyhow. I actually read the catalog more in the 11 months after the auction closes.

Cheers,
Blair

alanu 04-26-2011 01:17 AM

Got mine today in Nevada. Haven't seen anything I can afford in the first 3rd of the catalog, but it's fun to see what's out there......

I was kind of wondering if any of the Old Judges in the "Newly Discovered Find" are new to the Old Judge book published.

Mollys Dad 04-27-2011 04:10 PM

This is my first REA catalog. I have received catalogs in the past but today this heavy Fedex package came. WHAT???? This thing is huge! Woweee!!! I remember thumbing dreamily through the toy section of the Sears catalog as a boy in the mid 70's. I'm getting that old familiar feeling again!

:D

Tabe 04-28-2011 02:31 PM

Still waiting on the delivery of my catalog. Can't fathom that I'd actually bid on anything but it sure will be fun to read through...

Kawika 05-02-2011 10:24 AM

The FedEx Zamboni just showed up with my REA catalog. Yay!

bobbyw8469 05-02-2011 10:32 AM

I consigned last year, but was hit with a 10% consignment fee. They realized good money for me, but the fee bit into it. This year, I didn't consign anything. I felt like I had to have a $50,000+ card to make it worthwhile, and I just don't have anything like that in my collection....

Got mine today.

Holy crap!

Wow, sooooo much bigger, heavier, and nicer than I expected. I imagine I'll spend a LOT of time just reading through it over the coming weeks. It's darn near a baseball card textbook.
