Congrats Travis, nice card. I was in on the Melchior and Bodie but got nosed out. The prices were very reasonable on all 3 cards.

Holy grail for double name collector

Thanks to Mark, Rawn, Richard, Paul and Stefan for their BST purchases which gave me enough cash to get this Cobb miscut.

Balt/Montreal "possible" play:
Obvisous no one on base. Infield playing back. Montreal batter tries for a bunt single done the third base line. He bunts it too hard and the third baseman throws him out easily. The pitcher is running to back up play at first. Why there are two first base caches, I have nooooo idea. |

It's as bad as it looks...and I'm pretty happy...thanks Chris.

This card was included in a collection I bought. It is my first pre-war card and my oldest card in the collection. T201 Barrett/McGlynn Double Folders. Scratches are from the holder.

And as someone else mentioned, SGC doesn't use qualifiers -- they just knock down the overall grade, sometimes significantly. |
I recently picked up a boatload of 1933 Goudeys including #198 Irving Burns.
I have seen plenty of 33 Goudey cards that have significant bleeding through the back, but nothing like this one...is there something more to this card? Thanks - Rob http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/4182/33goudey198.jpghttp://img573.imageshack.us/img573/6...dey198back.jpg |
Just added these both this week. T202 is a nice looking card for a "1" (I think).

The gold is a little out of register, but much nicer than much of the T205 project with a very respectable back.
Two to go... http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ery/adkins.jpg |

Rob, Your Burns looks very similar to my Harris, I believe it's just significant bleed as you mentioned.

Wow
Wow...those Oj's are some of the nicest you'll ever see...beautiful!!!!!
|
Jim B
Jim B- those are great looking OJ's. They remind me of the grading discussion we had a little while back, concerning judging OJ's and other sepia cards by photo quality. Those would be at the top of the chart. regards
|
Jim - beautiful images!
|
Those are spectacular OJ's, as nice as they come, and of course it's disconcerting to see they received such low grades. One day the system will be improved.

Johnson upgrade?
Because who can turn down an upgrade to one's Johnson ?
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...e/0c8f7a89.jpg Sure, not everyone needs one, but ... :D |
Thanks for the kind words guys. I completely agree with the grading comments. These are good examples to make the point.

that is a nice T205 collins and I thought you got a quality buy on it. I had picked up a PSA 4 the week before or I would have chased it pretty hard... honestly the A would have fit my set better. I do think the Collins/Mouth Open is a great card for long-term appreciation. Great pickup, nice strong image.
|
Jim--Those are beautiful cards, congratulations. It's a great set, isn't it?
