Just picked this up in the B/L auction sunday night because, because, because, well, just because I thought it was cool! Does anyone have much information on these notebook covers (i.e. checklist, scans, etc)? Thanks for the help!

Must be a story behind that statement. My advice is: Be careful. You're running out of auction houses! :D:D:D

Kawika 10-15-2010 03:52 AM

Grab bag of items that have fallen into my greedy little hands in the past while (courtesy of eBay, Goodwin, Mears etc):

Trying to collect the 1928 SF Seals roster. Mishkin is a tough card.
Also trying to put together an Obak sub-set of Vancouver and Victoria players. Ward was the last Victoria Bee I needed, another toughie.

http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...%20Mishkin.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...bak%20Ward.jpg

Picked up this Mono from Goodwin as a typecard.

http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...%20Knight1.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...%20Knight2.jpg

Another typecard, my first E99, second-string Seals shortstop Harry McArdle. Love the floating head effect.
Looks like everyone else here has a Grignon Mordecai Brown postcard so I thought I should have one too.

http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...%20McArdle.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...c%20MBrown.jpg

Lastly, some photos I scored from eBay and Mears, respectively.
A classic out at the plate shot, umpire Jim Boyer working a Senators game in 1950.
And, the very first thing that ever dazzled me in a major league ballyard once upon a time long ago, the Chesterfield sign in centerfield at the Polo Grounds. A Hit!

T206Collector 10-15-2010 09:03 AM

Signed T205 Ed Walsh

Fell short on the Cobb, but picked up this nice consolation prize at a mere fraction of the price -- and it's my first signed pre-war card of a player from T206 that I don't also have on a T206:

It ain't pretty, but Coy knocks the 1909 Obak hunt down to a scant 3 cards to go. If you have Speas, Willett, or J Williams and are interested in naming my first born (really, any name is fine -- doesn't even need to have a vowel), let me know.

Your right, that is a great photo

I picked this one up in a trade with a Board member. Very happy to use this as an upgrade for my Throwing Lajoie with an odd back. It is replacing a nice SC 150, 649.

Happy Saturday,
Bob

Nice addition, Bob. I happened to add that same front/back combo -- albeit in lesser condition -- to my Lajoie collection this week.

rhettyeakley 10-16-2010 10:21 PM

Picked up possibly the toughest card in the E121 Series of 120 set to find (it was thought not to exist by many that collect this set up until fairly recently)...
http://starsofthediamond.com/e121whittedbrooklyn120.JPG

My O/T recent pickup came from a fresh paper/ephemera collection from a good friend of mine, and I HAD to pick it up, it is a RPPC...

Just back from SGC. This was a really tough one, very happy to cross it off my want list.

Charles?

Charles Marquard and SGC validated that?

BTW - Rhett - nice Houdini!
