I actually hit a mini gold mine with Mike Greenwell in my teenage gambling years. Caught him before anybody thought highly of him. Bought literally hundreds, maybe thousands of his cards for pennies apiece. Sold them as they were going up, and liquidated what I had left on the way back down, just in time at 50 cents apiece.

Not as much luck with the other guys. I think Cory Snyder alone may have wiped out all the gains I made with Mike Greenwell on his own. LOL!!!

If I was smarter then I would have realized his power display as a Rookie wouldn't have looked so good if I took a closer look at his horrid on base percentage and even worse strikeout to walk ratio. :(

Does anyone remember the 87 Donruss Greenwell "error" that was highly sought after, the red line on his shirt sleeve?

No, I was high on Greenwell for awhile but I don't remember that one. Then again I was never big on error cards from that era either. The only ones that really registered with me were the Nettles, Littlefield and Billy Ripken cards...........though I know there were a ton more then that.

Hey, say what you want about a lot of those late-1980's rookie busts BUT Mike Greenwell was a pretty good ballplayer. The guy ended his career with a .303 BA so there were certainly worse guys out there!

The return of JUNK WAX!!! I went to an auction on Saturday that had over 400 boxes of junk wax...I bought a whole table...50+ boxes for $12...I happened to mention it to my local card shop dood when I was picking up supplies today and he told me he'd give me $3 a box in trade for it...so I hauled it all down to my local card shop (58 boxes total) and got a crapload of supplies..and I guess tomorrow the 2010 Topps set is due in so I got one on hold.

I would have bought more junk wax at this auction, but I was parked half a mile away...it was an outdoor country auction on an acreage, and I had to be at work at noon.

One of my favorite late 1980s items was the Topps Double Headers... the player's current year card on one side, his rookie card on the other, in a little plastic standup.
