Here are today's additions.
Found these beauties at Luckeycards.com
Thanks Leon.

Epps 10-10-2009 06:38 PM

That's awesome! I think the Cicotte is one of the more beautiful cards in the set followed by Wagner.

Scott: I thought it might be an E90-1. The Stahl is super tough. Congrats.

There are some really nice cards on here this month. One more stab at the Monster for me. I picked this up at a card show today.

Attachment 7657

yawie99 10-18-2009 05:57 PM

Not exactly a new addition, but the kind of card whose successful crossover from PSA to SGC allows one to breathe a big sigh of relief.

<p><img src="http://photos.imageevent.com/yawie99/currentcollection/slabbedscans/large/1911-14%20T216%20Matthewson%20-%20SGC50Fh.jpg" width="800" height="495"></p>

This one probably deserved the downgrade from PSA 2 to SGC 20, but my neurotic mind is now happy that there are no PSA slabs infiltrating my graded collection.

Thanks, Leon, you made my day !!!!!!!!!!!!

I've owned this card for years, but never had a reason to post it.
I've seen the sequence on a few other backs, and basically "Felix" is swinging two rats about his head, AND the fellow who is chasing him in your card, is now stuck in a pipe with his umbrella stuck in an unfortunate place !!!!

((Also the front is "wrong" -- there are no left handed field hockey sticks))

Just got this one in the mail today. Thanks to Eric Merka for a great deal. He was very easy to work with, and this is easily the most pleasant transaction I have ever had on this board. I wouldn't expect anything less though, he's a U of Michigan fan. :)

My favorite team, with my favorite back, and a HOF portrait to boot! This one isn't going anywhere for a long time.

1912 World Series RPPC

A RPPC showing a crowd in Colorado gathered around to watch the scoreboard get updated for the final game of the 1912 World Series.

barrysloate 10-24-2009 08:26 AM

Joe- that's a great postcard, and the photo was shot just an hour or two before Snodgrass made his fatal error.

bijoem 10-24-2009 08:36 AM

thanks barry.

I love that people gathered around to watch the box-score chalkboard get updated.

This is before TV, and before radio.... so the updates were telegraphed in and put on the chalkboard. Awesome to see how the world series was enjoyed on 'main street' in colorado.

1912 pc

I wondered who outbid me on that PC. Nice pickup JOE.

Rawn

barrysloate 10-24-2009 09:03 AM

Joe- back in 1870, when the Brooklyn Atlantics and the Cincinnati Red Stockings played the most famous game of that era, Peck and Snyder had the inning by inning score come in by telegraph, and big throngs would gather outside the store to hear the up to the minute results.

Jacklitsch 10-26-2009 05:10 PM

Another of my PCL HOFers. PCL Batting Champ 1922 (.384) and 1923 (.394).

FrankWakefield 10-26-2009 07:36 PM

Hey Phil, that Baseball Magazine Giants premium looks like it found a good home.

Steve, that's a beautiful card of Paul Strand. Last I knew his 325 hits in 1923 is still the most ever in a single season in professional baseball. Good results for turning a pitcher into an outfielder.

And here's a pickup of mine that I'm so tickled with I had to post... Now doesn't this guy look like a ballplayer, grimy uniform, looks like he should be an attendant at a gasoline house...

i scored this one at the boss show the other night.

nice Score Dave....but the F word isn't really appropriate for our board....now if that chick would have taken off her shirt we might have something going .....but then too maybe that would have been too much too.....btw, it's the "go advanced" tab in in the edit box....(leon)
