Leon...

No sarcasm or anything intended with this... I'm sincere.

Could you give yourself a warning or infraction and leave it on there for a few days? What I'm wanting is to be able to click on your name or do whatever it is we should do so that we see if someone has any warnings? After a few days you could take it off of yourself. I'd just like to see the mechanics of it. Please don't boot yourself; just an infraction.

When I read your first post in this I expected that if I clicked on someone's name then I'd see an "infraction" tab, and from there I could get to how many they have... But I don't see "infraction". So does that show up only if the person has one?

Thanks.

Frank.

Hi Frank
I guess I made a mistake. Moderators (myself included) don't have an infraction system for ourselves. I guess that's the way it works. I don't really want to go about finding a way of giving one of us an infraction either as if it gets to that point (and it won't as my sidekicks are great guys in the best sense of the word) then we will take care of it other ways. I did just give you a test infraction that I made to expire in 3 days. Hope that helps. I want to make it clear that the infraction system won't be used too often but is there just in case....regards

FrankWakefield 09-01-2009 10:33 AM

OK,

I'd still like to see what it looks like when I click on someone's name.

Could you give me one infraction for a day or so, then remove it? That way I can at least click on my own name and see what it looks like, how to find it, etc. And anyone else curious about that could click on "FrankWakefield" and see how it will work.

Thanks.

Hi Frank,
Did you manage to read my post before you asked this question? Have you cliqued :) on your name?

FrankWakefield 09-01-2009 10:53 AM

Yes, sir (obviously with insufficient comprehension); no sir; but now I have!!

Great! I now see where to look. I like the tab, and the little red dot. I'm fine with leaving that on there for a while in case anyone else wants to see it.

Thanks.

Frank W.

Ok, I can't see Frank's little red dot. When I click (or clique:D) on his name
this is what I see:

That's the one you want.

FrankWakefield 09-01-2009 03:51 PM

Click on my name.

Then click on view public profile.

There will be 4 tabs across there, click on the "Infractions" one.

And with that you should see my "infraction", red dot to the right of it.

nolemmings 09-01-2009 03:55 PM

Nope

I only see three tabs. I say you get another infraction for wasting my time. :)

ChiefBenderForever 09-01-2009 03:56 PM

I don't see it either.

kkkkandp 09-01-2009 04:08 PM

Missing Tab

I thought I was having trouble with my browser, but apparently not.

I'm guessing the extra tab might be visible to only the offender. It really is kind of private information and if I was an offender, I wouldn't want the general public to see I had any demerits. It could be an incentive for people to bait me into getting myself kicked off.

Matt 09-01-2009 04:10 PM

How about now?

FrankWakefield 09-01-2009 04:24 PM

I see 4 tabs on me...

About Me, Statistics, Infractions, Contact Info.

same... only 3

Matt 09-01-2009 05:00 PM

Well, upon reading the documentation, it seems there is no way inherent to the software to expose the infractions page. If you get one, you'll know and be able to see it, but it won't be public.

FrankWakefield 09-01-2009 05:38 PM

Hey Matt,

Thank you guys, at least I got to see it.

Now, if I get an Infraction for real, I'd get an email about that, too, right? Realistically I don't click on my name very often, I'd not know I was on probation....

Rob D. 09-01-2009 05:46 PM

Maybe there's no tab because Frank is above reproach.

nolemmings 09-01-2009 06:04 PM

hmm

well Frank, I always said we should keep tabs on you. :p

rc4157 09-01-2009 06:27 PM

I'm just glad I wasn't the only person unable to view the infractions tab. I was beginning to question my internet navigating abilities.

Thanks to those who worked on this and also to Frank for being the "infractions guinea pig".

RC

Matt 09-01-2009 06:30 PM

I've gone ahead and given Frank another infraction. Can y'all see that one anywhere?

rc4157 09-01-2009 06:32 PM

Nope, Frank is still squeaky clean here in Ohio.

FrankWakefield 09-01-2009 06:36 PM

Alright!!!

I just got a Net54 email saying I got an infraction. Didn't get that first time around. I think this is a good thing, testing out the infraction system.

Anyone else see my Infraction tab?? I have 2 now, a yellow dot one and a red dot one. Come on, moderator dudes, bring all the noise you have!!!

rc4157 09-01-2009 06:38 PM

Be careful Frank, I think one more and you are banned.

RC

Matt 09-01-2009 06:38 PM

Frank - I removed the yellow one (a warning) and just added another red one. Perhaps this one is visible to others?

rc4157 09-01-2009 06:40 PM

Still just the 3 tabs for me.

OK - thanks for checking.

I see 3 infractions now, red, yellow, red... Here's what it says...

The yellow one (warning) says "Reversed" as I took it away. The red one (infraction) I just gave you should be visible to others according to the documentation. Not sure it will be in a tab or some other way, but it should be visible to others somehow...
regardless, it expires in 24 hours.

rc4157 09-01-2009 06:45 PM

I could be missing it I guess but I checked all 3 tabs and looked around and don't see any dots other than the green dot that signifies that Frank is online.

I don't think it will show as a dot - more likely some text that says Frank has 2 infraction points. I'll try to find a screenshot so we're not groping around in the dark. Thanks for your help.

kkkkandp 09-01-2009 06:50 PM

I See Something!

Still nothing on his Public Profile, but in the lower right corner of Frank's 8:36 PM post there is a little red card (sort of like soccer). When you mouse over it, the system displays a "Received Infraction" message.

Oddly, the red card disappeared in Franks' next post.

Kevin - thanks for finding that. Basically, there are two kinds of infractions - general infractions and post-specific infractions. The documentation says that general infractions can't inherently be made public but infractions specific to a post can be made public. I guess what you found is what that looks like, which doesn't do us much good. Since it's specific for a particular post the user made, apparently it only shows in that post.

I love it! Sort of like regular probation and double secret probation!

rc4157 09-01-2009 06:58 PM

Thanks Kevin. Now I know what a soccer card looks like.

kkkkandp 09-01-2009 07:01 PM

Red and Yellow Cards

Thanks to my soccer-playing son and daughter I am all too familiar with them! :D
