A friend got me into bass fishing about 10 years ago. For 3 of those years I competed in small tournaments. I fish for about any species here in Ohio, but enjoy the aspects of bass fishing the most.

Being from Kentucky, I thought I would get in touch with some of their culture...I collect Bourbon bottles, mainly Maker's Mark.

A former symphony violinist, I'm finishing my twentieth year of conducting and teaching orchestra.

When my younger child went off to college, five years ago, I returned to an earlier preoccupation - tournament tennis. It's a seven-day-a-week way of life, and has led to a national ranking in 60-and-over singles.

My wife and I travel quite a bit (Australia and Israel this past year). I read baseball history, specializing in Jewish ballplayers.

Soon I'll be retired and a grandpa. Right now, I feel like a teenager.

Picture captions: 1) My brother and father watched me win a trophy, and 2) I played at my son's wedding.

Illini- I had a piranha that lived for 15 years (1964-79). Is that considered old for a piranha? He had a red belly but don't know what kind he was.

Exhibitman 05-07-2009 06:35 AM

The details of my life are quite inconsequential...

I race cars, play tennis, and fondle women, BUT I have weekends off, and I am my own boss.

In addition to wasting countless billable hours on N54, I practice Bikram yoga 3-4x a week, write extensively on cards mostly for my boxing card web site and encyclopedia, collect Academy Awards tickets, and cook. Tomorrow I am playing hooky with some friends and catching the opening show of Star Trek. Live long and prosper!

Thanks. It's certainly my favorite. I absolutely love to restore these cars. Here are a few more shots of the Jag (and the new Jag). Also, just finished the top on the 1800 Roadster and snapped these pics a few weeks back).

Yes, that is long but not unheard of, I have 6 Red Belly's that are going on 13 years now. I am sure yours was probably a Red Belly, I am into the rarer breeds of them. I am into the Gold, and Purple ones...there are two different families of them. The Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus families...I am most proud of my Diamond Black Piranha, and of course my beloved Elongatus Piranha , he is the most aggressive of the species.

Hobbies include collecting fashion photographs, cognitive science, music (a strange couple maybe, my favorite genres are classical and hardcore punk; have season tickets to the Seattle Symphony which I think is top notch). I also volunteer for a local non-profit playhouse and gallery doing lowly volunteer stuff. I never think of my hobbies as hobbies, they're just stuff I am interested in and do. It's takes someone else to point them out as hobbies. Unlike with some people you hear about, I never decided or was told I needed to find a hobby. I've been doing stuff ever since I was little kid, much of which would be labeled as hobbies.

I've always been interested in woodworking and just recently got into restoring antique radios. Here's a before and after. It works like new and I listen to it 4-5 times a week.

Illini- that sounds really cool. I assume each one has its own tank. We had another piranha before this one, and we introduced the red belly one as a baby into the same tank. When red got big enough, he killed the other. He spent the rest of his life in a 55 gallon tank. Once we tried to move him and we took a big net and cornered him at one end of the tank. Then out of nowhere he shot across like a buzzsaw, making a hole right through the net. But he was a great pet, I cried when he died.

I enjoy coaching wrestling where I teach in Michigan, and I have a ball wrestling with my 3 boys under the age of six. I also enjoy deer hunting, fishing and camping. There is no place I would rather be in the summer than Oldsmobile park cheering on the Lansing Lugnuts, Blue Jays single A affiliate, or Comerica Park hollering for the Tigers.

My family, other sports cards and nonsports, medicine (the healing art rather than the busines), kayak fishing, mountain biking, reading, writing, the stock market, collecting Morgan's, rock and mineral collecting and study.

From seeing the above posts, it is no wonder I lose out on many wanted items!
For the last 25 years, I have been in charge of 140 softball umpires and 100 basketball referees. Started out as a "Summer job", but, as I am no longer a teacher or coach, it has become full-time. I assign over 13,000 games per year and work about 400 myself, which is my hobby income.
Below is one of my favorite umpiring memories: umpiring a mens baseball league championship game at Wrigley Field. Even took the kids out of school for that treat. The boys spent the entire day in the dugout, running all over Wrigley. What a day to remember! That picture was taken 14 years ago, so Andrew, on the left, is graduating from the University of Illinois (like Dad) next weekend. Kyle, on the right, is a junior at Iowa. My father graduated from Northwestern, so we have a chunk of the Big Ten covered!
I run baseball and basketball tournaments for youth in the Chicagoland area and also umpire slow pitch tournaments including Nationals, Worlds, and Super Worlds. Spend most of my money putting kids through college and wish I could travel more.

I found this old Pennsylvania license plate in an Antique shop.

Looks like everyone is into a lot of interesting "hobbies" or should I say more correctly "lives". Personally, I spend a considerable amount of time coaching basketball and cross country at the high school level, it has been an exciting ride over the last 25 years. Playing guitar (personal enjoyment only) and travelling with my wife (this summer Australia and New Zealand) are my primary vices. I also love it when the family is able to get together at the same time. Below is a photo of everyone and their significant others and also my first convertible (sorry, no photo with the top down).

Let's see.... Collecting old cabinet cards, stereoview views, post cards, and old maps of California, San Francisco, Yosemite, Contra Costa County, and other places of interest I have been to. I also backpack and snow ski the Sierra's as often as I can.

These cars are incredible! I love old cars but, unfortunately, I have zero mechanic skills (never even changed a flat tire), so the odds of me buying an old beauty such as yours are, sadly, pitifully slim. I'll just live vicariously through you ... at least for now. :)
