1949 Leaf BB set....show us your cards

Posted By: <b>Jon Canfield</b><p>Ted - this thread just reminded me... I few years ago, I sold an original store display for 1949 Leaf Baseball on eBay. It was a boc backplate used for advertising. If I remember correctly, it was red. i didn't know a lot about the item but I remember it went for much more than I thought it would. Were you the buyer?

In another Thread about a year ago we definitely proved<br />that this wrapper was associated with the 1949 FB cards. But, it has never been really confirmed with BB cards.<br /><br />And, I think you'll agree that an auction description stating so....does not make it so.<br /><br />I will keep researching this; and, if I do find some certainty to this mystery, you will be the first to know. And, I'm sure<br /> you are doing likewise.<br /><br />TED Z

Posted By: <b>Jon Canfield</b><p>Ted - I wish I did have a scan but I don't. All I can tell you is what I remember...<br /><br />First, it was cardboard - maybe about 7x7. It was printed in red and had a baserunner on it. It advertised "All-Star Baseball Gum". I remember when I put it up on eBay, I was expecting it to go for around $50-$100. I got maybe 5 or so emails to end the auction early but let the auction run. At the end, it sold close to $1000. I remember the man that purchased it from me was very excited and was a Leaf collector. He called me after he received it to again tell me he was happy with the piece.
