With this particular Mantle, I think there's no way that CSG puts it on the auction block without known buyers already lined up and at least approximately what they plan to bid on it. |

I think buyers are lined up on many big ticket items. . |
Officially over 1 million with the BP

The description of that Mantle is kind of obnoxious....from the mention of bank account sizes down to the multiple jabs at PSA. Including one that isn't even accurate (just because PSA has given out more high grades on the Mantle doesn't mean that they're being the most lenient....obviously it could easily be because most people don't want to send the very best ones anywhere else).
Just a clown show to promote CSG, as many have said. |
Looks like it sold for just over $1.25M with buyer's premium.
I don't see it selling for this much if it it had stayed in the PSA 7.5 slab. The PSA 7.5 that sold for 705K by Heritage in August, 2022 was also a very well-centered, beauty of a card. So while it didn't get to the $1.5M that SCP "estimated" (hyped) it at, which is about what PSA 8's sell for, I think it did well for the owner that had it regraded as a CSG 8. |

Even though the card didn't get to the $1.5M that SCP estimated it was worth, I still think it is a small win for CSG and SCP.
The card is beautiful and is a great posterchild for CSG and to a lesser extent SCP. SCP is already plastering the results of the sale on all their marketing materials. By the way, I think that SCP saying it was worth $1.5M was a good strategy. It set expectations that were almost reached. If the sale is legit, then it is a huge win for the consigner as the hammer price was WAY more than it would have been if sold as a PSA 7.5 |
We had three major auctions end in the past two weeks. I didn’t see any Csg cards in those auctions.
Until that changes, I will stick to the tried but true grading companies. |
4.5
I was a bit surprised at the price of the 4.5. To me the card was overgraded given its surface scuffs and poor (even MC) centering. For that card to crack 100K I think also was a win for CSG.

I thought all enlightened collectors are buying the card and not the holder.
Have we changed strategy? |
