The ball hit by Williams comes from a collection of an elderly gentleman whose family had season tickets in the first row along the third base line at Cleveland's Municipal Stadium -- I picked up about a dozen foul balls from the collection

One of the toughest RC cards to get in the hobby.... Very underestimated IMO 1939 Goudey Ted Williams RC |

New Menko Ted
Super late to the thread but I'm such a big Ted fan I had to comment. Interesting note - PSA will slab and grade the following rare Ted items that were pictured here:
- whole/entire uncut color backed strips - Topps pin boxes w Ted on cover - Ted Jimmy Fund card It's such an odd group of things they will slab in his case but I think they stretch a bit on legends. In other news - this is the first I've ever seen of this Menko which actually has Ted on the front and writing about him. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F264436567577 Assuming you all saw the other Menkos get booted off the master set very recently. |

Jimmy Fund
6 Attachment(s)
Today, a few Jimmy Fund Ted Williams membership cards. Start with the
1. Common 1959 (and the common "high-number" variation which has a different cropped photo and different ink on the back) 2. The Uncommon 1960 with the vertical Ted 3. The HTF 1956, 1957 and 1958 4. Finally, the "darn-near-impossible" 1963, 1971, 1972 Still two that I know of (1965 and 1967) that I do not own. Anybody have other years? David |

A few pins and charms (most are not really rare, just uncommon to see so many at once).

I'm having a horrible time with picture hosting but I posted them on the FB Number 9 group some time ago.... https://www.facebook.com/groups/966482986863560/photos/ If you are not a member, just request to join. I am an infrequent contributor, kinda like here, but I see some amazing cards. EDIT- I found the 65 on my Photobucket page (which I haven't visited in some time)......https://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f...ndWilliams.jpg |

Purchased back in the '80's. Had it looked at by multiple people/experts. All indications are that it is not a reprint & is indeed actual Topps advertising piece. |
Well, since I am in the long lost Photobucket account, figured I would share a few odd balls....

A few rare Ted Williams pieces...
The Petitto Candy Container Bust (last photo) is one of a tiny handful known to exist. About 100 X rarer than its Jackie Robinson counterpart. |

Great thread! MaineMule when I saw that Ted piece with the photos I said What is that?? And laughed when I saw you had a similar thought.
Mark - nice Moxie! Here's one that I can add - I love that someone had the nerve to get this card signed in circa 1985. Such sharp corners. What a great hitter. |
1958-1960 Game Used Bat
3 Attachment(s)
I bought this Ted Williams bat from former A's pitcher Matt Keough. Matt's father, Marty Keough, was friend's with Ted while he played on the Red Sox. The dates aren't exactly clear, but somewhere between 1958-60 Matt participated in a game as the Red Sox's bat boy. There are multiple pictures with Ted and Matt with a nice letter from Ted on how to become a professional baseball player.

Ted Williams senior year high school yearbook. Ted graduated in December 1937. After playing for the PCL Padres at the tail end of 1936, he was no longer eligible to play high school baseball, and so is not shown with the baseball team.

Thank you. It was given to me by one of Ted's lifelong friends that went to Hoover High School with him. Unfortunately there is no high school-era Williams signature inside.

Great stuff! Especially love the '37 Padres Team PC and Team Photo Premiums shown in this thread. Here's an old photo of Mr. Williams in his SD uniform:

Love seeing these great and rare items, thanks to everyone.
Here are a few of my favorites from the early days: 1. 1937 Padres team signed ball 2. Ted, Eddie Collins and Padres owner Bill "Hard Rock" Lane outside Padres offices, right after Ted signed. |
Great stuff Dave...
That's one heck of a shirt collar that Ted is sporting! And Ted's sig on the Ball might be the earliest I've seen. Thanks for posting those amazing images! |
