2013 Goals

This year I will continue my search for a nice 1912 Berry Zeenut as well as a 1912 Kreitz HRK.

Also pickup a few C46 catchers..S74 Meyers colored silks...a few T207 catchers...perhaps a nice 1915 Nunamaker Cracker Jack...maybe a Carl Horner Cabinet or a Plow Tobacco Cabinet catcher.

Finding any of the above would be nice!

1. Do not start any new projects - check
2. Sell cards not needed in current projects to fund Jax buy - check
3. Finish the CJ set - see sig line
4. Locate and buy a 1907 FP Burke unused PC - not even a smell at one
5. Do not buy anything not mentioned in line 3 or 4 - Only 1 purchase with the FC Wagner, close enough

Same here. No concrete goals, maybe find a card or two at auction or at the National.

Before scrolling down to the bottom of your card and seeing the Babe, Leon, I first thought it was a lobby card for Reefer Madness.

cutting back

My resolutions:

1. Start no new card sets/projects unless an existing one is abandoned and sold. Too many "works in progress" that barely get started and then stall.

2. Go one calendar month without spending ANY money on cards, and do so naturally, i.e. without medically-induced coma.

So far so good on #1, #2 still seems like a pipe dream.

5 months later....how are you all doing? :)

Still collecting stuff I like with no apparent focus. Suits me fine...

1- Nail down my collecting goals.

2- Become more organized. Everything from keeping better track my purchases, scanning my collection, to being more proactive in plotting out my targets in auctions when the previews become available.

1- I give myself a pass on this. My collecting goals are more refined now, but I seem to keep adding topics/goals. Currently its T209 b&w, Max Carey, HOFers and M101-4/5

2- I have made great progress in this one. Acquired a fancy new scanner and I'm not the unorganized mess I was before in regards to tracking my collection.

  1. Add another 60 SGC 40 T206s to the collection to get to 75% while keeping my average cost per card under $20 (currently at $11.48, but need some big ones).
  2. Add another 20 EPDGs to my low grade all EPDG set.
  3. Add 4 E91-As to the collection

  1. Currently on track for the SGC 40 T206 - at 70% at roughly $11/card
  2. Got the 20 EPDG - at 78
  3. Sold all the E91-A

Just started the e98 set from scratch in November, and I'm already down to 6. So, my #1 goal is completing that set.

All goals:
1) complete e98 set (down to 6 more needed)

2) start a new caramel set (maybe e93 or e95)?

3) keep working through the monster alphabetically (make it through the letter "B" by the end of the year...currently own the first 5)

4) obtain half of the 1952 Topps set in any condition (currently at about 50 total cards)

5) get to the 1/4 point with t205 set...currently own just 17 cards

6) get to 60 1955 Topps PSA 8 cards. Currently at 43 cards.

OTHER GOALS:
1) write a baseball card related article
2) finally start writing a book. Been wanting to do that for a few years
3) remember what it was like to be under 200 pounds??? :)

It'll be fun for us to revisit this in December! What are your goals? Perhaps we can even help each other out a little just by listing these goals. Who knows?!

Jimi

For me, it's kinda sad:

1) Got to within 1 card of completing the e98 set, and then sold the whole thing. :(

2) YEAH...started the e95 set. I have about half of it. :)

3) I stopped working on the monster alphabetically. LOL I'm now working on a t206 McGraw back run....and doing well with it. :)

4) Sold my original batch of '52s, but slowly rebuilding it again. Only have like 20-30 cards. :(

5) Dropped the T205 project altogether. :(

6) 1955s are no all gone, too. :(

That's a remarkable achievement, your screen name is quite apropos, being able to keep your cost/card down that low.

Magie goal = DONE
I still continue to collect but slowly .
Try to buy cards each month

HOF Auto Rookies 05-13-2013 11:01 AM

Thanks... it's time consuming, but fun. I've sold about 2000 T206s since 2010 to support my habit.

Keep moving forward!

ORIGINAL POST
1. For my Ted Williams Master set, obtain the last two 1947 Menko cards I need, as well as a R303A/V351 Williams Rookie card.

3. T205--Complete my Mordecai Brown back run (minus the Drum)
4. Buy my first Old Judge card (preferably a HOF player)

2. Picked up a Baker PSA3 and a Walsh PSA2, no other progress here
3. I got nothin'
4. Picked up a Jimmy Ryan batting Old Judge SGC1 (not a HOF, but a start).

Still some work.

AMBST95 05-13-2013 01:54 PM

Original goals:

1) Get to 100 T206: reaching 8 T206 HOFs and 6 Old Mill SL.
2) Get to 24 1933 Goudeys in PSA 6
3) Continue to add PSA 10 Basic Ripkens and E210 York Caramels

So far....

I have already hit 112 T206 with 9 Hof and 8 Old Mill SL.
I am at 18 Goudeys (6 to go), but one of my additions was a Ruth, so if I fall short, I don't really care.
My Ripken Basic Registry just hit #5 All-Time and I'm over halfway on my Yorks.
I completed my Orioles Team HOF RC set by adding Hoyt Wilhelm's 52 Topps!!!

guy3050 05-13-2013 04:04 PM

My 2013 goal was to collect all 25 HOFers from the T205 set, Bought my 1st one December 30th, I am now at 20, I still need Bresnahan, Eddie Collins, Griffith, Speaker. and Wheat.
