It seems that the Expos wanted to give their fans a lifetime of memories as quickly as possible.
As if the inaugural game at Shea Stadium or the first home opener win at Jarry Park weren’t memorable enough, the Expos quickly adopted a flair for the dramatic in just the franchise’s ninth game, on April 17, 1969. That night, Bill Stoneman pitched a no-hitter against the Philadelphia Phillies, allowing Nos Amours–a French expression meaning Our Loves–to achieve the feat more quickly than any other team.

Hopefully I’m in the right place here. I was wondering if anyone has any insight on this sheet of tickets. Can’t seem to figure out what year these are fro
and the authenticity.

I occasionally see these types of tickets listed on eBay as games between the Yankees and the Royals. However, given that the executive listed on the back of the ticket appears to be Michael Burke, I'm guessing the tickets had to have been issued for a potential series involving the Yankees that would have occurred from 1966 to 1973 (see Baseball Reference list of NYY presidents) but never did.

These are phantom tickets for a series that was never played. Most likely 1975. Many of these were repurposed as admission tickets for the 1977 NYC show run by the Ghallager Brothers and the ASCCA. Attached is an example.
It was a great show. Mr Gallagher sold me an E95 Cobb at my fist show in 1973 for $4. Many of my favorite collecting memories are of those shows in NYC.

HOF Steve Carlton 4,000th Strikeout Ticket
 

I recently was able to finally complete a ticket collecting project that I have been working on for more than a decade.

On August 5th, 1986 @ SF, Steve Carlton aka "Lefty" joined Nolan Ryan as only the second pitcher to eclipse the 4,000th career K mark.
As a member of the SF Giants, Carlton retired for the 1st time the following day.

Since 1986, two other pitchers, Rocket Roger Clemens and HOF Randy Johnson, also surpassed this mark as well.

The 4,000 K club is an exclusive one indeed with only 4 members and certainly none in sight to ever catch this quartet. With specialized pitching being what it is, the book on this category is closed.

The only other category of major MLB records that I can think of is the 700 HR club, that with Albert Pujols joining in 2022, only has 4 members as well.

During the era that Nolan Ryan pitched, Steve Carlton was the premier left hander and he ended his career with 329 wins, making him a sure 1st ballot HOF'er.

On a personal note, I can't tell you how difficult it has been to locate a ticket to this game. :cool:

This is the first ticket that I have ever heard of in the hobby, and to find a full, unused season ticket was a bonus as it will join full tickets of the other 3 in the 4,000th K club in my personal collection.

May 22nd 1992 ticket , Felipe Alou has his Managerial Debut and wins his 1st game as Expos Manager , he also becomes the 1st Dominican to manage in MLB history, he won a total of 691 games as manager of the Expos most by any Expos manager, arguably the most loved Expo ever!!!

I have/had some reservations about this ticket, but I just picked it up.

Senators last home game 9/30/1971 against the Yankees. I am a bit leery because this information was written onto the ticket, I have to believe it was on the day of the game but I just don't really know for sure.

The information about the seat, row, and section do fit the stadium layout. It just strikes me odd as to being written verses printed. JMHO.

However, it is headed my way now.

Update: The person that sold me this ticket had a friend that went to RFK in the early 70s for Redskins and Senators games. So, a fair chance the ticket writing is period. SCORE!!

They actually sold tickets like this back in the day. it was before computers so if you bought from a ticket agent (outside of the organisation) they would write them out. They probably had a block of setas they sold or had to conirm the seats were available and then just wrote them out. The biggest problem is that I doubt anyone would slab them as they could be manipulated.

Which is only really a problem if you care what the opinion sellers think.

If you as a COLLECTOR believe it to be real based on the evidence at hand (on hand?), then you win.

If you buy stuff needing to pay somebody else to tell you it's real, well, good for you.

I am a collector, and I now believe it to be real. I certainly call this a win. It is the last Senators home game before they moved to Texas. And Frank Howard smacked a home run that was grooved to him by Mike Kekich. Who can’t love that story. I am totally stoked.

I don't collect a lot of tickets, I'm mostly a scored program guy, but I'm happy to add these two (sort of three).

Because I'm in a playful mood, I'm turning this into a trivia question. If anybody gets the right answer (in the next 48 hours) I will send them one of the duplicates.

A certain event has happened 21 times since 1930 (I think. I could have missed some when I was searching box scores on Retrosheet, it also may have happened before then, but I haven't had time to go that far into the box scores), that event happened in each of these games, what is it?

Another unusual occurance is when 300 game win pitchers face each other after they have won 300 games. Very few games overall.
I'm not sure if the same is true of 4,000K games, but that would be neat as well...

Some combination of Cobb, Speaker & Collins did it 79 times from 1925 thru 1928 (including the game when Collins got #3000).

Cobb was involved 62 times, Speaker 67 times and Collins 35 times.

There were 6 games in 1927 where all three of them got a hit.

Ok, so in my initial post I lied about not having looked at games prior to 1930.

I found a counterfeit ticket to Game 6 of the 1996 World Series (October 26, 1996) lying on the street in front of Stan's Sports Bar, across the street from Yankee Stadium, as the game was being played. (I didn't have a ticket to the game and wasn't planning to attend; I just wanted to be there and soak up the post-season atmosphere and excitement.)

My guess is that the ticket was discarded by the scalper who was unable to trick someone into buying it. Or, it could have been discarded by the poor soul who purchased it only to find the ticket was a fake.

The source ticket from which this was made was a ticket for Game 7. The numeral "6" has been pasted over the "7" in the "Game 6" references. (At the top of the ticket, the "EYSW7" stands for 'Event - Yankee Stadium - World Series 7.' Had this been a real Game 6 ticket, it would have said EYSW6.)
