I have always liked this 1933 Goudey featuring the batting pose of Al Simmons...one of the first ten or so vintage cards I picked up many a moon ago.

Continuing the DiMaggio theme with this 1941 Wirephoto. I guess the Yankees gave Joe the increase in pay he wanted.
Joe set a record in 1941 that will never be broken.

That R312 DiMaggio is a nice one; I don't see them that often.

Here's a Magee to add to Derek's post. Not sure why he doesn't get more love. He was one of the top left fielders of his era both by traditional stats and by WAR (Baseball Reference has him as the 14th best left fielder of all time, ahead of several Hall of Famers and second only to Fred Clarke in the 1900-1919 period). He is actually the highest ranked left fielder not in the Hall, with the exception of steroid players and Pete Rose.

My totally raw Diamond Star set. My idea was to somehow frame this set and hang it on a wall in my basement. Haven't done it yet though.

Love Diamond Stars, I am about halfway through a graded (sorry) set. I can't pick a favorite, but Ott is right in the middle of Scott's beautiful display, so I will post his card. I always liked Mel because he is the best player with my initials.

Odd factoid about Mostil: He led the league in fielding % by a centerfielder in 1925 and then led the league in errors by a centerfielder in 1926.

The Johnny Mostil-fest continues with (from top) Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 of his W573 strip cards, though I believe Type 3 cards, which are thicker and wider, were machine cut and issued individually, and thus not distributed in strip format, and therefore are not strip cards.

Mostil had an incident in his career where he seriously slashed his wrists and almost died over an affair with Red Fabers wife, allegedly.

I saw something about a suicide attempt. Didn't know it was that. I guess he forgot about bro's before ho's.

And yes, my wife will kill me if she sees this. ;)

And, here we have a really, really "BIG CARD"............

This Elysian Fields picture is a print of the original Currier & Ives Lithograph (1866).

It was reprinted from the original by the Sidney Lucas gallery in NYC (circa 1930's).
