Two questions for the experts: 1) Any idea of the date? 2) Does anyone know what kind of car that is?

Thanks in advance.

The car is much larger than the Model T touring sedans of the era. I'm no car expert and it's hard to be certain from the pic but it looks a lot like an EMF touring sedan c.1911-1912. The company was renamed Studebaker in 1913.

Good ole Studebaker...my first car (amazingly) was an Avanti II, which was a spin-off for the best car that Studebaker ever produced, the Avanti.

This is an oversized PC (about the size of a sheet of paper) for Slapsy Maxie's bar in Los Angeles. Nominally run by light-heavyweight champ Maxie Rosenbloom, it was really a cash cow for its silent owner, gangster Mickey Cohen. The cariactures show patrons engaged in all sorts of scandalous behavior:

Here is a RPPC of HOF boxer and Black Sox bag man Abe Attell:

I think you've got it - thanks Don!

Wow! So cool! So cool, in fact, that I shared it with my wife who proceeded to say, "that's so cool". Love it!

Anyone know any details about this Hank Greenberg postcard? Can't find a thing except a different pose with the same back.

Greenber

Cool action shot on that Greenberg PC.

This looks like a Jim Rowe postcard made from a George Burke photo negative. Any PC with that Kodak stamp box on the back would have been produced after 1950. So while the image is likely from the 30's to 40's, the postcard wasn't produced until likely the 60's-70's. I believe the writing on the back that shows "Greenberg" is consistent with many other Rowe PC's I've seen before.

Good discussion on Rowe postcards here:

Great pick-up on the Wanamaker postcard, Mark. :) I was an underbidder on that item. I always love seeing obscure/rare Philadelphia items.

Postcards sent by Dots Miller to a relative during stops from the 1911 season. He apparently sent a lot of postcards during his career and the family has more in an album, but these I got from an auction.

The one I really like is the top one from Chattanooga. The Pirates worked their way up to Cincinnati for Opening Day on April 12th. One of the stops for an exhibition game was April 7th in Chattanooga, and Dots was able to get a postcard out in the mail before that game.

The two best Ruth images (next to Path Freres) on any card in my opinion. And while the exhibits gehrig has seen better days, it is a pretty special card.

Picked up this Geo. Brace PC of Bob Gibson. Judging from lack of Zip Code in the address, I am guessing early 1960s?

I bid on this postcard on Ebay then realized it is very likely a fake item.
Luckily someone else didn't realize the same and outbid me!

It only took five weeks to get there, but I'm glad that Mr. Vaughn arrived safely! You'd think you lived in Guam given the delays of the Canadian postal system.

Guam, that's the name of the igloo across my street!

The fact that these exist should scare the bejeebers out if RPPC fans.

Not really. Modern fakes so far have been easily spotted and it's way way more easier to create a good fake of a traditional printed card.

Not saying rppcs collectors are exempt from fraud, but not any more than any collector of anything and less than the traditional baseball card collector.

Unused AZO PC backs have been out there and relatively available forever.

Something that was made after 1950 and most likely a lot more recently than that.

Here's something a little different and one-of-a-kind! A 1910 RPPC of the Equipe De Lacrosse National (Quebec) that includes Jeff Malone & Patrick "Paddy " Moran.

Paddy is the hall of fame goalie who played hockey for the Quebec Bulldogs NHA teams of the early 1900's. Jeff Malone is the brother of the more famous "Phantom" Joe Malone. There are so few printed images of Jeff, happy to land this one on ebay a few weeks ago!

Here is a circa 1915 RPPC of Boston Red Sox catcher Hick Cady. I picked it up several months ago, but never posted it. It was taken during Spring Training in Hot Springs Arkansas.

Can anyone help me definitively date this one?

If only you had a similar rppc of one of Hick's teammates!
