Recently Bought this Snapshot of Marty Keough. Marty was selected In the December 1960 expansion draft. And played for the "new" Senators in 1961. What I find interesting is he is actually shown wearing a 1959-1960 Uniform. This design was not worn by them in 1961, a brand new one was made for them. And the Mr. Senator sleeve patch is slightly visible on left sleeve. The mascot that was left behind with the old club in 1960..

I know the team was brand new and this is most definitely spring training (maybe even earlier) but using the previous years uniform from a then Defunct team? That is wild, and pretty cool to look back on now.

Good detective work Lucas. On the one hand, it was probably not unusual for clubs to use left over uniforms to get through spring training and the departing club could easily have left/sold old Washington uniforms to the new franchise, but on the other hand, Keough, while far from a star, would have been expected to make the roster. Hank - the players are wearing "National" across their chests, and set a strong tone for Washington baseball for the next 80 years by finishing in last place for the second half of the season to end up 3rd to last in the league.

This came up at auction through Memory Lane, and having read through this Washington DC baseball thread multiple times, I immediately recognized it. This was the original picture that was reprinted in The Washington Sunday Star on October 5th, 1924 (attached below) which user RUKen posted in 2022. His post included the unintended challenge that he was "pretty certain that the original photograph is no longer in existence" so I knew I had to jump on it. Now I just need to find a copy of the 1924 Sunday Star to frame with it!

Sorry to have missed you at the vintage show, I hope you can make it next year. You've been an incredible voice for Washington collectors since Tom Holster gave you a shout out in the Senators checklist 30 years ago!

Thanks, Brian. I miss my dear friend Tom, who left us much too early.

Hank - I, and I'm sure many others were sorry to miss you at the get together. I hope you are doing ok. Speaking of Tom, I still have a copy of his book lying around somewhere.
