Hank, There are only ten known bf2 premiums, with no wajo. And unfortunately I don't own a S81 of him. Here are a few more updated pictures.

Incredible collection! I guess I was thinking of the large multi-premium display that contains a WaJo along with several others. Is that a BF2-related item? The S81s are so gorgeous, my WaJo is one of my favorite pieces.

It's funny that some rooms resemble museums (those of Brendan, Bob, Tony, Frank, etc.) and others (like mine) look more like flea markets. :p

Mark the turnstile is definitely from 1909. I’m not sure if the ticket box, it could be 1909 or later.

After selling our last house, then moving into an apartment a couple years ago for about 18 months while building our new house, we finally settled into the new place last year. My wife insisted that I have my own 'sports room' and I decided not to argue with her. I strived to keep it somewhat simple and I wanted some old front load display/china cabinets for the added antique feel when displaying my stuff. I still have a few empty spots on the walls, but it's pretty close to being finished......for now.

Always utterly shocked when I see hockey items on this forum, especially antique examples.
I'd love to know more about the mounted stick on the wall.... are there any maker's marks or stamps?

Nothing stamped on the bat. I found it out in Hershey at their Antique Automobile swap meet a few years ago. Might be some sort of old store display or folk art piece?

Yes, it's an early Spalding stick. Quite rare from my research. Also, I posted the old 1905 hockey team photo hanging on the wall below the stick. Love the socks!

Love the two AAGPBL Pennants! So rare, and the condition of both looks phenomenal. And those vintage wood display cabinets are killers. Such a classy and dignified look to those displays! If you could give us a closer look at what's inside, that would be phenomenal.

Great stuff!

Mark...........Here's a few more pics as you requested. Not everything is sports as there's a small and very rare porcelain 1912 Michigan motorcycle license plate and a Woodstock ticket flanking an OAL baseball in it's original box.

In another case are a few more full size Michigan porcelain plate sets. My Dad is into automotive advertising and brass cars, so I kind of reach into those genres sometimes, too.

Also, I've posted it before, but I love my Chicago Whales team photo with that field at the corner of Clark and Addison.

Matt

Hey Matt, you're right. Appropriating the fame and name of the current Stanley Cup champions at the turn of the century; the Montreal Shamrocks, that Spalding stick is especially rare. It dates from approx 1901/02 to 1904 - no later, with the model made until approx 1907/08, with the Spalding stamp changing on the later models. Does yours have a scored or grooved handle? (at the top of the shaft)

The models made before 1904 sport a grooved handle, the later models do not. I have seen only four examples of this stick previously - five now with yours - including three that I have owned (two were sold at auction, and I still have a high grade NOS example in my collection).

The photo is interesting as well... Westmount is an affluent area of Montreal famous for a number of early Hall of Fame members who were either born or raised in the area including Sprague Cleghorn (the toughest and most violent player in history), Art Ross and the Patrick brothers (Lester and Frank).

..... I also forgot to mention in my first post, great room! I love the set up and displays.

Kzoo 08-05-2021 07:21 PM

Mark and Brent........Thanks for your kind comments and interest.

Brent, I believe my Shamrock stick has the 'scored' handle, as there are many long, parallel grooves on all 4 sides.

Matt

The c.1970 white suit belonged to Gordon Johncock and I bought it at the late Scott Brayton's estate auction. The red suit is Michael Andretti's F1 suit from 1993. Thanks for asking!

It helps that we had the house built and I was able to do whatever I wanted with the basement. I ended up finishing about 1100 Sq ft and cancelled another room of 250 sq ft.

A bit off-topic, but collecting mannequins is a legit hobby. Rare poses or known artists are the Cobbs and Wagner's of their world.

I’m glad this thread got revived. It got me wondering how much space you guys have for your collections. A wing of your house? A room? A closet? I have about 220 square feet in a windowless basement room, with an adjoining 70 square feet in a “cold storage” (i.e. beer fridge) room. My garage gets used for banners. I’m lucky to have that much dedicated space, but could always use more!

I'm fortunate that I have about 1200 square feet in my basement which allows me to display big items (which I like!).

My wife also likes the antique look of some of my items and they're interspersed in our upstairs living area.
