When Fred married his first wife Dorothy McCoy their union put an end to the Hatfield/McCoy feud. Well, Fred did say his no good run off dad was one of the real Hatfield clan

#128 Whitey Lockman One of the more difficult cards to find with 50/50 centering all of the way around and with clear registration.

#129 Russ Meyer He was known for his intensity, but he is also known to collectors of our featured set as being displayed on a card that is very difficult to find centered. I once had a Meyer that was so beautiful with its bright, deep blue sky background with a gloss that made the card appear as if it just came out of the pack. On the other hand, it had a sliver of a border on the right side. It ended up being sold and was replaced by the card that you are viewing.

#130 Cass Michaels (Casmir Eugene Kwietniewski) A beaning curtailed his career at age 28 in 1954. This is another card that is often found off-center.

Lockman played a key role in The Shot Heard Around The World. Rus Meyer was not called The Mad Monk, Russ The Red, and Rowdy Russ for no reason. Note to Cass....do not bat against a guy who has just given up five runs in one inning including a grand slam

#131 Connie Ryan I don't know if there is any colorful trivia about Connie Ryan, but if the color saturation and gloss are perfect then this turns out to be one handsome card.

Connie played all 9 innings of the 1944 All Star Game. He was once ejected from a game for wearing a raincoat in the on deck circle during a game he thought should have been called. And he was the 3B coach who first shook Aaron's hand ( see the 54 Gallery thread today) as he rounded 3B after 715

#132 Fred Hutchinson- According to Jim Brosnan, Hutchinson was a reader. If I remember correctly Hutchinson liked John Cheever's works. On the other hand, this card is notorious for being off-center to the left or the right. This is a card that one day I will upgrade.

His nickname "Puddin' Head" was based on a song that was popular when Willie was a small child with no negative connotation intended. Could you imagine that happening today? I don't even think a rap artist would adopt such a moniker today.

"Sometimes you have to be careful when selecting a nickname for yourself. For instance, say you have selected the nickname 'Fly Head'. Normally you would think 'Fly Head' would be a person with beautiful swept back features from the wind. But, think again. Might not someone think 'Fly Head' implied a head that looked like a fly ? Some people might actually think that".....Jack Handey

Pesky had over 200 hits in his first 3 seasons but season one and season two were separated by 3 years due to the War. What might have his career stats looked like if there had been no interruption ? The Fenway right field pole was named after him in 2006
