Wanted to share this as I recently picked this up (thanks Ryan C). 1946-47 Sensacion Premium, pretty large 7 3/4 by 11 3/4 . Only saw one sold before on Hakes that was graded, but that was trimmed down.

Just love anything Dihigo. Based on what I found online they were part of a set of 27 from a periodical.

Jamie, you have explained to me that you have Volume 1 of my catalogues, which deals with card collections from 1909 to 1957, but they are all in small format, in volume 2 the different collections appear in larger format, for example post cards, and many more, volume 2 is much more extensive than volume 1, that's why you didn't know that 1947 collection, now I show a photo of the Cárdenas team of the Cuban championship in 1889.

Does anyone have an opinion on removing 1945-46 Deportivo cards from an album?

Will soaking them completely destroy the cards?

I had one user suggest soaking them. But, the set seems pretty fragile. So, I'm hesitant to try without confirmation from other people.

Is there any preferred method to test solubility of the glue first, without fully submerging?

Roland 49 08-22-2022 01:02 PM

I have done it for 39 years to peel off album cards to thousands of Cuban cards, I prepare a container with water at normal temperature and I introduce some parts of the leaves and wait for them to detach by themselves, those that detach I take them out immediately and put them to dry at the top of a cloth or towel that absorbs moisture, when they are completely dry I insert them between the pages of a book, when you are all inside the book I put something heavy on top of the book, so that the cards are ironed, the next day I take out the different sheets and organize them according to the case, some cards take longer than others to take off due to the type of glue and quantity that was used, there are several methods that I have used depending on the quality of the card, the previous explanation is for the album Felices, but for the albums of Cigarros Aguilitas, Nacionales, Punch etc, other methods are used.

Thanks for weighing in on my question, and for detailing your method. That matches what I've read elsewhere. It makes me feel more comfortable trying.

I may attempt it in the near future.

Teams that participated in the Baseball Championships from 1878 (3rd part) In the first two parts I published the names of the teams until 1900, at the beginning of Cuban Baseball on the island the acceptance of this sport among Cubans was very important , and apart from that 1st championship, other championships were played with the names of First Prize, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, that is: at the end of the Cuban Championship, several teams would then meet to compete for the 2nd Prize, 3rd etc. , many times with the teams that played in the official Championship, but also others with the names that I mentioned in the first two parts of this work, in the 80s of the 19th century, despite the fact that the population did not reach two million inhabitants , baseball was very popular and in some years more than 300 teams were officially registered, in 1886 the weekly El Sport invited the teams that had played in the Cuban championship to a competition with the name of Campeo born from Cuba from El Sport, which was won by the Almendares team and the Champion Bat was Francisco Delabat, and he was awarded a bat with the inscription on a plaque that says: Champion Bat de Cuba 1886 F. Delabat Almendares B.B.C. I show photos from a magazine and the aforementioned award. (To be continue)
