Thanks Adam. The cards are nice and I actually kind of like the CSG holders . I guess the Celtic green works in this case. :D

You can now echo Geno -- "I've got Diana and you don't."

I was inspired to get this cheap but cool Meadowlark.
Speaking of the Trotters, still magical. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sb0LWFNm6w |

Picked up a couple more raw hall of famers. Haven't defined exactly what my basketball collecting will be, but so far it's just hof'ers from 60-80's, and maybe some early 90's.

Bought the Kobe raw off ebay, pulled the LaMelo from a pack. Just back from SGC!

Got a complete full set of the 1989-90 Hoops in pristine condition minus the Pistons Champions card.. usually the Jordans are gone so felt pretty good about that... and I'm a big UConn men's fan.. working on getting a full set of UConn pros.

found this piece recently and had to have it. Never seen it before. Lots of wear on the seams. Basically, the mailer is a three-part that folds three times.
The address part with the Pollard (HOF) picture and the Cullom's Column is the outside. https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...Promo%201.jpeg Unfold it to regular paper size and there is a great Mikan image: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...Promo%202.jpeg Unfold twice more and there is a three-sheet (four side) article on Mikan: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...Promo%203.jpeg Dates to the pre-season of the 1948-49 NBL season, the first for the Lakers in what would become the NBA, 2nd year for Mikan. |
Wow that Mikan/Lakers foldout is amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Got the seller image of my two 1972 Dr J's. SGC is grading tough, thought that they both had a chance for a slightly better grade. Bought them raw on eBay, so just glad they measured up and weren't trimmed.

A fine example of the GOAT.

As I recall he retired before he reached 30, what happened there?

Knee injury. That was before the arthroscope. Warriors needed a new center so they drafted Wilt haha.

I spent the first of the year trimming my upper 70s to bring these two grail cards into the Holy Trinity (joining Wilt). I'm dead broke but it had to be done. |

I have been getting raw cards to eventually grade when things get cheaper. For basketball I have been getting a bunch of 1996 Topps 50th. I have a PSA 9 of this card already, but if I seem them in this type of shape, I won't pass them up. These are completely undervalued IMO, condition sensitive, lower POP than Topps Chrome versions, and will never hulk. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...52a94dd74c.jpg |
Just upgraded my Alcindor rookie disaster (making something better out of my Murphy's law '69 set situation) thanks to a fellow forum member who sold me this very nice 3 for a fair price:

Now I'm roped into upgrading the other low end cards in the set into somewhere in the grade 4-6 range. About two dozen of them with Havlicek and Walt Frazier being the only big ones. The cards are so fragile that I'm surprised many survived in nice shape |
Nice one, Tyler.

Thrilled to find this one for my coaches collection.

This was my biggest basketball pickup of last year. Pop 4, super tough card.

Still my favorite Wilt Card

Love this centered 1969 Wilt #1... $200 less than the PSA 6.5... just sayin'
|
Nice Wilt. Sure looks spiffy in that black holder. It has that recurring red mark at the top left. I thought that was part of the design until I realized it wasn't. I have to get mine slabbed some day.
