It will look better if you trim off the hanging/loose portion, and get it to resemble a point at the end. This one is actually a good candidate for that, as you can easily envision the end product with a better (albeit not perfect) tip. Many examples are not conducive to trimming.
Take it a little at a time, as you don't want to be too hasty. Nothing wrong with doing that, as long as you disclose it, when it comes time to sell. Pennant collectors typically do not want altered items... So you'd be doing this simply to approve its appearance and please yourself. Altering it for resale (without proper disclosure) borders on sleazy seller territory, IMO. Great pennant... A classic! As for politically incorrect, I'd still put some of those Big Nose Wahoo Indians Pennants and Screaming Braves wielding a Tomahawk ahead of it. |

Thanks for the tip on the tips. I was actually afraid to snip the tip, but since I didn't buy it to flip, I might give it a rip - just a little clip. |

Have you ever seen this version of the "Lefty Batter"? His Bat is horizontal rather than vertical, and the GG Bridge is clearly different... |

Where are the Int'l League O's?!? |
Great Pennants Mark! But what's really amazing is the amount of wall space you have!
Seriously...Well organized, appealing displays. |

Mike: That's a gorgeous oversized Cubs Pennant. Looks so nice, lit up by the lamp underneath. Congrats on that rare beauty! |

Any ideas as to what this Cubs is worth? I have a chance to buy it, but at a very high price. I don't see it in the Egner price guide.
Thanks! Lou P.S. We just picked up over 200 nice vintage pennants (30's through 60's mostly baseball & football) and we're going to look at more this weekend. Hopefully we'll be getting some nice stuff. |

I've seen more pennants that I've never seen before going thru all 58 pages than in the last 10 years combined.
|
Wait - isn't that Ebbets Field with "WRIGLEY FIELD" slapped on the front of it?

I would say that pennant is in the $200-250 range. It is a difficult pennant, but a 40's - early 50's version. Hope this helps. Jason |

Mark. Wonderful amazing collection. Thanks for taking the time to post. One after another after another...tough ones and great looking too. I typically love the oversized ca. 1910s but that Indians pennant w the dancing Indian made me stop and stare. Wow.
And Ricardoh, all beauties too. How many of those 1912 Champions pennants are known. My favorite thread, thanks guys. |
First 3d Red Sox one I have seen. Dodgers, Yankees, Giants, Red Sox ??

Amazing, Rick!
That's the best Red Sox Pennant collection I've seen. Beautiful pieces, with a few of those probably being "lone survivors". Never seen that Ted Williams variation.... Niiiiice! |
Incredible collections! Thanks for sharing.

Why don't you think they made these for the first Super Bowl? I know the super bowl wasn't really "super" in the first couple years, but you'd think there would be more pennants around. Jason |

All I know is the pennants you have posted on this forum make up the most amazing collection I could ever imagine. Absolutely fantastic! I do have many other Red Sox but those are most of the best ones. I will put a few more up soon. |

I think the first Super Bowl was considered too much of an 'exhibition' than it was soon being thought of. That is why the game attendance was so small. The vendors didn't jump on board in time, clearly. After the game, it became clear how important an event it was and by the next year it was obviously going to become a yearly contest and with obvious importance. By then, the vendors were going full force. Before the first game I think very few understood how important it was going to become. |

8 inch mini pennants from the 30s, each team came in various colors, but these are very scare and hard to find. also a full set of Keezer patches, also difficult to run across.

Wow, those are some rarely seen logos on those mini-pennants. Really love the quirkiness and "off colors". Especially like the Reds Mascot... Is that a Policeman holding a Beer Stein? Must admit I've never even seen most of those.
Great post! |
A couple of my favorite banners/pennants.

Mine: white shoes, white bridge, white bat, flesh-colored arms and face Yours: white shoes, yellow bridge, yellow bat, tan arms and face Other: grey shoes, white bridge, white bat, white arms and face You'd think with one this rare, there would've been just a single manufacturing run. But there were clearly at least three. Kind of creates more questions than it answers  |
