Finding some nooks and crannies to add a bit of my collection throughout the new place. Thank goodness for a wife that doesn't think my stuff should be relegated to a man cave only (especially because the place is too small to actually have a man cave!;))

This first pic is a grouping of Toronto and Vancouver baseball items mixed with some miniatures etc. The second highlights a repurposed store display shelving unit, displaying game balls and autographed balls that I have personally caught and had signed over the years - haven't found a location for this yet. Third pic is of a Spalding football broadside that I have had for years. It is in terrible condition but is hand drawn and over painted - with great eye appeal (to my eyes anyway).

I've always found these Barrister bookcases to be good for displaying items. Picked this one up recently at an estate sale at a reasonable price to replace another shelf.

Are you paying retail or the "going rates"?

Great stuff, Henry, Chris and Joe! Beautiful and very well thought out displays!

My new space is starting to take shape after much cleaning, organizing, unpacking and other stuff that's not exactly fun. However it's coming together slowly but surely...

Wow, Mark!!

Great collection & I really like your thoughts on how to display it.
The quality of each piece is stunning- real eye candy!

Congrats on getting the point that you can begin to enjoy it again in your new digs...

Bumpus Jones 06-26-2016 05:19 AM

Looks great Mark!

perezfan 06-26-2016 05:56 PM

Thanks everyone... Means a lot coming from you guys!

Lots more to come in a few days. Just gotta kill a few more spiders and unpack a few dozen more boxes.

Ps. Lots of nice stuff will be hitting the BST pretty soon. I no longer use ebay, so please be sure to keep an eye out (in the BST Memorabilia section!)

To icollectDCsports...

They are called Vintage "Hat Forms" or "Hat Molds". They are typically dark wood, and were used by Milliners, back in the day. They have rich antique look, and go especially well with vintage hat styles like Pillbox, Boater, Boston Style, and virtually all short-brimmed or pre-war Caps.

Pretty easy to find, as there is always a good selection on ebay. Here are a few examples...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/vintage-anti...3D322148625694

Another...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/vintagE-ANTI...gAAOSwKtVWvnT0

You'll find lots more by searching the key words "hat form" and "hat mold". If you find one you like that's roughly 21" in circumference, it should work for most adult-sized Hats. I believe a 21" circumference equates to a size 7 1/8 (or at least very close to that). I highly recommend these for displaying the early ones.

Hope this helps!

icollectDCsports 06-26-2016 06:21 PM

Mark -- Thanks very much for the info about the hat molds. Very cool and they really are great for displaying your hats.

Hello All, Been a reader of the forum for some time but with my memorabilia room completed, it was time to sign up and share...Thanks, Mike

Scott Garner 07-10-2016 11:09 AM

Wow! Very nice room, Mike!

ooo-ribay 07-10-2016 11:18 AM

Beautiful room, Mike!!!!

Did you fabricate the bat holders yourself?

Welcome!

Mpop80 07-10-2016 12:07 PM

Thanks....The bat holders are from a company called "Saf–T-Gard"...clear acrylic and they do a nice job. Available in horizontal or vertical mount.

mrozie21 07-10-2016 02:53 PM

Great display! How are the shin guards attached, it looks like they're on a shelf? Any other support?

Mpop80 07-10-2016 04:23 PM

Thanks...Shin guards are resting on a basic shelf that I attached some artificial grass to using double sided tape. The artificial grass supplies enough friction that the shin guards won't slide. (Shelf and grass both from Home Depot)

vintagesportscollector 07-10-2016 06:53 PM

I love it Mike!!...clean and classic. Are you a Popovich? :)

really nicely done display. It has a real "elegance" and look of sophistication beside all the aged beef it offers which in and of itself is quite superb :-)

Really nice displays. Love the clean and well thought out look. Those white Mitts are especially sweet!

Looks like you have a great eye for quality, and appear to be a condition Fanatic (like me!). Great posts!
