And Jeff P and others, pure candy to the eyes!! and another somewhat generic rppc.. http://luckeycards.com/postcard.jpg |
Nice Leon, I wouldn't classify that as generic, Reyes put out a really great looking postcard series of individual Chicago Cubs players too.

[QUOTE=Leon;1547662]Would love to see some of the single players from this series. I can only imagine the breathtaking clarity. Here is one not as clear but with some cool content...and it's a double size postcard to boot...
Here are a few Reyes postcards Leon, enjoy! |

Love a girl who doesn't mind to get a little dirty! If I had a time machine, I'd take her out and make those dimples come out! Great card!

Extremely rare postcard series by photographer Lee Stopple. These are the only two I have ever seen but perhaps others are out there somewhere...

I've seen the San Fran and the LA team. Never seen the Sacremento team before. Dingman made some great postcards back in the turn of the century!

Here's a toughie: HOFer Jack Dillon's Bar:
http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...%20Bar%201.jpg Per cyberboxingzone.com: Dillon was a tough, hard-hitting, aggressive attacker who moved well and possessed an abundance of stamina; He was considered by many to be a smaller version of Jack Dempsey, the heavyweight champion; Dempsey, who had never seen Dillon fight, once asked "Who does he fight like" ? "You" was the reply. Charley Rose ranked him as the #2 All-Time Light Heavyweight; Nat Fleischer ranked him as the #3 All-Time Light Heavyweight; Dillon was inducted into the Ring Boxing Hall of Fame in 1959 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1995 |

Anyone familiar with this postcard? It might just be the only Polo Grounds postcard from this era I haven't got and I cannot find it anywhere. Any ideas?:

Andrew, here is a link to a similar version of the same postcard without the added airplane.

This is my first RPPC. I love the action pose, the wide-open scene, the old car in the background, everything about it.
Two questions for the experts: 1) Any idea of the date? 2) Does anyone know what kind of car that is? Thanks in advance. |
Bryan, according to a postcard website that stamp area that says 'azo' with 4 triangles dates from 1904-1918. The split back typically means after 1909 (I believe) and the catcher's mitt looks 1909+ too. The car seems like 1915 but I'm just using my instincts there.
I'd say your card is 1914-16. But it could be 1910+ too. Hope this info somehow helps. Peter |

Here are a couple of postcards I just received:
• C. 1910 Case Motor Cars Postcard with Barney Oldfield & Joe Tinker • 1936 RDM Studio Real Photo Postcard of Joe Cronin (Minty Fresh Condition!) |
Thanks to Peter and Herb, much appreciated! Model T came to mind but I don't think this one quite matches, there is a spare tire and a few other things that don't look quite right.

This may be it but the roof is down so it is hard to tell. You might have to take this one to an automotive museum, Bryan? https://www.google.ca/search?q=1900+...ftavqsMMCiM%3A |

A little off thread here, but after looking at Jeff's and Bryan's cool postcards with Automobiles in them I thought this would be cool as well. It's the only News Service Photo I've ever bought but it just looked cool. To keep on topic here I would love to find a postcard with the same image and I would pay "market price" and then some for it!

The car is much larger than the Model T touring sedans of the era. I'm no car expert and it's hard to be certain from the pic but it looks a lot like an EMF touring sedan c.1911-1912. The company was renamed Studebaker in 1913. http://www.american-automobiles.com/...E-M-F-1911.jpg http://emfauto.org/pics/photo_archiv...prelim_cat.jpg |

This is an oversized PC (about the size of a sheet of paper) for Slapsy Maxie's bar in Los Angeles. Nominally run by light-heavyweight champ Maxie Rosenbloom, it was really a cash cow for its silent owner, gangster Mickey Cohen. The cariactures show patrons engaged in all sorts of scandalous behavior:

Anyone know any details about this Hank Greenberg postcard? Can't find a thing except a different pose with the same back.

Greenber
Cool action shot on that Greenberg PC.
This looks like a Jim Rowe postcard made from a George Burke photo negative. Any PC with that Kodak stamp box on the back would have been produced after 1950. So while the image is likely from the 30's to 40's, the postcard wasn't produced until likely the 60's-70's. I believe the writing on the back that shows "Greenberg" is consistent with many other Rowe PC's I've seen before. Good discussion on Rowe postcards here: http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=118709 |

Postcards sent by Dots Miller to a relative during stops from the 1911 season. He apparently sent a lot of postcards during his career and the family has more in an album, but these I got from an auction.
The one I really like is the top one from Chattanooga. The Pirates worked their way up to Cincinnati for Opening Day on April 12th. One of the stops for an exhibition game was April 7th in Chattanooga, and Dots was able to get a postcard out in the mail before that game. |
