I truly am impressed with everyone's collections and displays...in most cases, I find myself left speechless. Congrats to all!!
Given our current situations, I did some quarantine cleaning today and tidied up the room that houses my collection...here are some pics. My best to all of you and your families. Jonathan www.dugouttreasures.com |
Jonathan, awesome setup!

Wow! Orioles70 and Jonathan, very impressive rooms!
Congrats to both of you. :) |
Orioles 70 and Jonathan those photos made my day. Thanks.

Great photos and items as always Jonathan.
What year is the Wright & Ditson catalog? |
I could stare at this collection for hours!
Just an amazing collection Dan! I can only imagine the years and miles traveled to amass such a collection. Your collection represents countless memories and friendships. Thank you for sharing!

We need a new rule on this thread. Anytime you post a bookcase photo with books you must also post closeups. Bibliophiles like me need to see the titles!:)

This will be fun...interesting and diagnostic, too ;) ...I love books with pictures, esp. those of vintage equipment and memorabilia. Here are some of the titles in my very small and modest book case:
Boxed, 1st Edition of the McMillan Baseball Encyclopedia Joe DiMaggio’s ‘Lucky to be a Yankee’ 1st Edition of ‘The Babe Ruth Story’ Signed copy of ‘Now Pitching, Bob Feller’ ‘Baseball in the Garden of Eden’ by Thorn…signed and personalized…one of my very favorite non-vintage items..the 'bible' of early baseball. ‘Baseball Legends of Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery’ by Nash Copies of the two books I composed and published…the Dugout Treasures series. D. Nemec’s, ‘The Beer ad Whiskey League’…signed and personalized ‘Baseball Gloves…1880s -1940s’ by John Graham 'Sports Uniforms and Equipment'...a great book that depicts some simply outstanding collections. Nat Geo’s ‘Baseball As America’ ‘Treasures of the Baseball Hall of Fame’ And, while not in the bookcase, here is another book that found a home in my hobby room...a 1898 copy of the History of the Boston BBC. Hope to see some other bookcases out there!! Jon www.dugouttreasures.com |
Jon,
Great displays! I never considered that belts would present so well in those tubes but that Excelsior belt looks fantastic alongside the bats. George |
Jon that is great stuff. The Boston Baseball Club book is wonderful! I'll try to get some photos of mine,

Wow. Some really great rooms.
And some really understanding wives. It's a win-win. |
Great pics everyone!
John - The last things I expect to see in the home of a California collector are hockey items. Very cool. Brent |

I have not posted my room in a while and its changed quite a bit from my last pictures
|
Bob, you’re supposed to show pictures of your room not pics from a museum. Wow gorgeous items. That Cy Young box and the Walter Johnson tuxedo are my favorites.
|
All first rate stuff Bob! Looks great.
|
Bravo Bob, Bravo!

My favorite is the Reach sign. :D
|
Bob -- i could look at your stuff all day. I think i vote for the Reach sign too!
Greg |
Bob:
Impossible for me to pick just one (or even a top 10 for that matter...) That's the first time I've seen the Pirates Bat Fan on display. Really love the way you fanned it out and shadow-boxed it. So classy! That one could be my favorite (for the next 5 minutes, anyway). Incredible stuff! |
Come on guys, the Reach sign, really?
That multi-piece Winchester action shot is beyond amazing. That's the winner. |
Appreciate All The comments
Thank you all, I dont get to show off my collection very often (a couple of Net 54er's have stopped by which I was very happy to give a tour too) To hear all of your comments makes me feel very good. Thank you for all your comments:
@Mark S. You must recognize many of your former pieces, thank you for selling me the pieces that I purchased from you and especially thank you for the education and friendship over the years. The fan is one of my favorites as well and I could not believe my luck when an old time collector who I called, sold it to me. I was thrilled at the condition when I received it.. @Greg - the Reach sign is double-sided and is just as gorgeous on the other side @Doug - I bought the Winchester panel about five years ago at the National and hemmed and hawed at the price for a good day. I made the purchase not knowing where I was going to put it. My wife (who is supportive of my collection but doesn't like it very much) saw it after I put it on the ceiling, she rolled her eyes and walked out of the room shaking her head. The other side is a fishing scene I believe but have never seen it actually :). As always, if anyone is selling anything that would fit in my collection please feel free to contact me anytime. |
I had the pleasure of viewing Bob's collection in person earlier this year and believe me, the photos don't do it justice. Awesome collection Bob!
|
incredible
I keep all my things in safes have 6 of them at my beach house ..very few things on display ...but wow ,,terrific

Great Kings items! I wish I had a souvenir from my first LA Kings hockey game in 1968, I was 7. Like maybe and ear? Réal" Frenchy" Lemiuex had his ear slashed off & I remember the ref skating over and picking it up with a towel and giving it to the trainer. They stitched it back on between periods and Frenchy was back out there with tape for an ear. I was HOOKED! :D |

There is no Johnson tuxedo box that I am aware of. I have the Tuxedo Johnson sign (and in my opinion the best looking one) of course. But no box that I know of. Thanks |

1) Boxes: Matty and Gowdy 2) Horizontal broadsides: Matty, Walter, McGraw. 3) Vertical signs: Gowdy. |
Quote:
The only change that I would add is to the vertical sign is that there is a Christy Mathewson as well. |

|
And here's some odd trivia about these four subjects: three of them: Johnson, Gowdy, and McGraw, were in the 1924 World Series many years later, and Matty was in the press box covering the series for a syndicate.

Finally complete!

Hi all, I've looked on with admiration at the rooms on this post over the last number of years. While my collection pales in comparison to the quality I've seen out of many of our members, I've been able to finally at least move mine out of spare rooms and storage closets. I completed the renovation of the shed behind our house this weekend, which was a major project as my brother and I did all the flooring, ceiling, and woodwork ourselves. While I've barely had a chance to get much on the shelves, I look forward to many years of filling it up!
|
Ryan,
That's a shed?! That is the greatest shed in the history of sheds! I love all that you've done, especially the ceiling. The displays look amazing too, we might need to see a few closeups. Well done! Greg |
Damn, I have a lawn mower and some grass seed in my shed. Ryan, that is absolutely the most kick-ass shed of all time. Well done.
|
By the way, what's the square footage of that bad boy?

But.....where’s the bar??? :p |
Ryan -
OUTSTANDING ROOM! Your woodwork is excellent. That ceiling is amazing. The oak showcase and the wall unit are beautiful............................ Thanks for sharing. Jerry Sage |

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the kind words.
I'm very fortunate, my grandfather built the shed for my grandma back in the early 90s for all her auction buys, so I had the benefit of working from its bones. I included some before pictures below. Unfortunately 12 years of sitting empty before my wife and I moved in meant it needed a new furnace, air conditioning, insulation, doors & windows, etc., but it was a fun vision to execute. I posted a picture of the finished outside as well. Total building is 32x40, with the baseball room being about 30x32. The small room in the back I dedicated to some military history so I can share that with some of the high school kids I teach. I'll include some pictures of that also for any history folks on here. As for the bar, Rob... I do have a two-tap kegerator in the barn next door with a bar, but the best I can do in here is keep the old coke cooler in the storage room stocked! |
Ryan that is a great job! I am having major "He Shed" envy!
|
You are going to easily win the award for best shed. Unbelievable! I can’t imagine having that much space for stuff. Congratulations.
|
Ryan,
That's flat out unbelievable! I love it!! Congrats on your progress and I wish you many years of fun filling it up. |
That looks more like a guest cottage than a shed. Very impressive. Great job having multiple interests like that. I used to collect Civil War ephemera and give lectures so I know how important visuals are.
|
I'm always humbled when I see pictures of sheds that are bigger and nicer than my entire house!
Very nice stuff. |
Thanks a ton guys, I really appreciate it. I thank grandpa every day for building that shed, though I'm sure he didn't know he was building it for me at the time! As an avid baseball fan and gun collector, I think he'd enjoy what it has become if he could see it now.
In the 10 years that I've been collecting HOF and vintage baseball, I've relied heavily on this forum. I have been awed time and again with the level of knowledge and expertise of our members, so I look forward to continuing to learn from you veteran collectors as I track down items worthy of the space! Thanks again! |

So I have a question. It is about binders in which folks put 9 pocket sheets with cards. I see them on shelves sitting on end. How does one do this without the pages sagging/drooping down, thus causing damage to some cards?
I am beginning work on my cave and hope to be able to begin to start matching some of the awesome displays I am seeing here. They are quite impressive. Thanks for sharing. |

NFL HOF QB Room

I know we're probably supposed to be talking baseball, but thought since football is coming soon I'd share my football room.
This room is dedicated to NFL HOF QB's, but I do have some memorabilia of other players (L Taylor, B Sanders, Sayers, etc.). |
