And the */** markings seems to start with 1971 baseball, so no help there. |
I will deem this thread great if we ever get the sellers to use it and stop fantasizing that Grant Jackson is a SSP with a 10x premium in low grade :D.

Great effort by all involved

Ever since the 1966 Topps 7th Series sheet layout was finished in this thread 18 months ago I have suspected there was a flaw in the final layout but I wasn't going to say anything until I found proof otherwise. I finally found a severely miscut Art Mahaffey on eBay last night that shows him above John Sullivan rather than Andre Rodgers, it has been my belief that Mahaffey and Mike Cuellar who are side by side on a 3x row needed to be flipped. Since they are both on the same row everything remains the same as to who is a 4x and who is a 3x. The pics show that the two lines on the back match up perfectly with Sullivan and the bulge in the Sullivan box matches the bulge on the card on the Mahaffey miscut. Andre Rodgers has a much larger stat box and is not a match at all for the card under Mahaffey. ETA another factor is the team banner under Mahaffey on the miscut is yellow rather than the pinkish red of a Pirates team banner.

It really surprises me the W. Sox and Cards rookies checklist does not sell for a big premium compared to the other 7th series checklist. Especially considering its location in the G. Jackson row.

I wasn't involved when you guys sussed out the 7th series, but each of these seem to confirm your conclusions - good work!
He doesn't have any from the 6th series does he? Or maybe the 1965 6th???? |
