I had a few returns in January.
Pete O'Brien Mike Loynd Tim Conroy 405/792 |
Group on the auction page. Just passing it on.
|
I've gotten some more successes the last couple of months:
Gene Walter Buddy Bell Mickey Hatcher Dennis Powell 409/792 |
Update
787/792 99% - Base 124/132 94% - Traded 911/924 99% - Overall Down to last few baddies. Always paying top dollar for the ones I don't have. #138 Roy Lee Jackson #202 Ricky Wright #395 Damaso Garcia #665 Rod Scurry #775 Joaquin Andujar #15T Ivan Calderon #18T John Cangelosi #30T Mike Dunne #44T Brad Havens #83T Jeff Musselman #95T Tony Pena #126T Alan Wiggins #128T Frank Williams |
Just curious, does Ricky Wright sign other years cards?
|
Ricky Wright is a tough signer regardless, but I've seen a signed 1983 Fleer and signed 1986 Topps on eBay.
His signed 1983 Fleer is listed at $199.95, and his 1986 Topps is $499.95. So, if you collect either of those sets, you're in luck. |
Recent returns:
Bobby Valentine, Rangers Leaders John Felske Pete Incaviglia - Mail Order Private Signing 412/792 |
I went to Globe Life Park today for the White Sox and Rangers. I was able to get Daryl Boston, the first base coach for the White Sox, pregame.
413/792 |
I had a June 27 return from Don Aase, which was beautifully signed. I also had a June 28 return from Dann Bilardello, which was badly smudged, but a success is a success.
415/792 |
I have no idea when I sent this out. I forgot that I did, but today I received a return from Thad Bosley.
416/792 |
Did you write Mr. Bosley at the Stevens Creek address or is there a better one?
Thanks. (And thanks for the PM answering my question). |
Recent Returns:
Dan Pasqua Barry Jones Juan Nieves John Cangelosi Gene Nelson The Cangelosi was from a drop off I did for a signing. The other four are TTM returns. 421/792 |
Net54 and its members have been great to me, even helping me get some autographs or cards I needed for free. This is from folks who didn’t even know me. Thanks for being such a great group. Small payback: if one of you can use this for you 87 Topps autographed set, it’s yours. First to say, “I’ll take it” gets it. Just post that, PM me your address, and give me a couple days to put it in the mail.

Card is spoken for. Thanks, everyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
If anyone is looking to sell their duplicate auto's, I am paying $1.10 each. I just started my set about a year ago so have many holes.
|
I had a return from Brett Butler last month.
422/792 |
If anyone has a dupe Dave Henderson, Roger Clemens All Star, RS Team Leaders or Tom Seaver that they would want to sell please let me know. Last few I need for my Red Sox Team Set.
|
I got back Ron Hassey and Ruppert Jones, both from submissions to PastPros.

1987 Topps Mattingly AS
2 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,
If anyone is interested in a Mattingly AS, I have one for sale in BST. Sharp card and auto that was acquired 2 years ago TTM to Marlins Spring Spring Training. Also, a nice Canseco (BAS) Andy |
I had a return from Chili Davis within the past month or two.
425/792 |

I recently got two Chili Davis back in the mail and they were so horrible I threw them out. Cards were badly damaged and autos were atrocious.
Andy |
How do people know the Chili Davis returns aren't legitimate?
Also, I'm seeing recent returns for George Brett recently. Here's somebody who stopped doing shows, doesn't seem overly nice about signings. Sometimes Atommic Sports has a signing with him and it's pricy. What are the chances his returns are authentic? |
Quote:
I saw a couple returns on Brett myself and I am extremely skeptical. He is still doing signings with Tom Orr as well and his pricing starts at $110 for cards. As you mentioned, he's a pretty tough signer, and none of the alleged successes I saw had posted a picture of the item they received. I guess I could be wrong but for now I don't believe for a second that Brett is legitimately signing his mail. |

Edit to add a reference: Top row is authentic. Bottom row is ghost signed. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...2946dbe500.jpg |
FWIW, the returns I saw over the last month or so all looked like the bottom row, regardless of where they were sent. I do remember at least one request that specifically noted it was sent c/o the Mets with the ghost signed signature. I don't recall however if it was returned during the season or after he'd returned home in October.

I got an 87 Topps Brett signed in Spring Training in West Palm Beach. I sat next to Craig Sager's wife and Brett chatted with us for several minutes. He even called over Frank White and Jorge Orta to sign for me. Later on a group of autograph seekers (including myself) approached Bo Jackson and we received a response that rhymes with "Duck Stew". I shed no tears when he got hurt...
|
Vince Coleman can now be added through PastPros!!
|
If anyone is looking for an 87 Topps Mattingly AS, I have one listed on the BST. It was a great return from Spring Training last year!
|
CARD HAS BEEN GIVEN AWAY!!
Just received Henry Cotto autograph via TTM. This was a two or three year wait. Card is mint, auto is fantastic. Free to a good home, just email me at Andysargent1@hotmail.com Cheers. |

I have the dual signed "Rangers Leaders" card of Ricky Wright & Bobby Valentine:

What’s the back story on that Wright?

I added Valentine at a banquet a couple years ago (who also asked how I got Ricky to sign lol). |

I added Mr. Baines via a recent TTM. One of those surprise returns that makes it all worthwhile.
|
I see a lot of guys are signing that never signed before (for free, and TTM) like Rafael Palmiero and Harold Baines.
|
Looks like Mike Witt will be doing a signing with PastPros. A very tough autograph to get, especially for this set!!!!! And it is priced accordingly.
|
Recent returns came from Don Schulze and Jose Cruz Sr. The latter took almost five years.
Also, I checked that I got returns from Paul Assenmacher and Dusty Baker, but I guess I never posted them. 429/792 |
Daryl Boston, Tito Landrum, Danny Cox and Tommy Herr are all on PastPros now. I have all except Cox.
|
Dwayne Murphy has been added to PastPros.
Mike Young and Mike Aldrete are doing a PastPros signing. Young is $15, Aldrete $20. |
Good luck on collecting the set!
|

Some updates for those collecting the set. Curt Ford is now on PastPros. Rafael Palmeiro is now charging $30.00. Jose Cruz Sr. is now $3.00 per card. |
I just picked up the Roy Lee Jackson (BAS), puts me at 3 for the main set
and Mike Dunne Traded. Another Bigfot card as he doesn't sign it anymore. Not authenticated but PSA came back as "Likely Genuine". I'll be sending it to CAS once I get it in. Puts me at 7 for the traded set. Also got Phil Regan back from a signing to complete the Mariners TL. |
I have Mike Birkbeck available for $1.50 shipped via paypal friends and family if anyone is interested.

I am a member of a facebook group called "Baseball Private Signings" and someone is talking about being close on getting Ricky Wright to do a private signing that supposedly includes any card. The early discussion has prices in the Dr. Mike Marshall range, but seems to be a lot of interest. Some of those 87T set collectors are real hardcore. At least Marshall had some longevity and accolades. Wright really did nothing in his brief career, but to each their own!
Anyway, if you need/want Wright, it might be worth joining the group and watching for it. The person who apparently is negotiating this possible appears to be a member and said details would be posted there if it happens. I joined the group in hopes of seeing some cheaper, somewhat obscure guys I wouldn't mind having. Aside from buying a couple Jose Pena cards that were leftovers from a prior signing I had missed, I have never participated in any of the signings. I am simply a regular member, have no affiliation with the group or ties to any members. I am just sharing information that others might find useful. I have a few Wrights on other items (ball, team sheet and 83 F) and being a Dodgers collector, I have 0 interest in a 1987 Topps signed by him, especially at $150-200!! I hope the guy lines it up though, sounds like it could be interesting. |
I do not have a Facebook, so I wouldn’t be able to get details.
Jeff Lahti, Willie McGee and Pat Perry have all been added to PastPros. |
Update
789/792 99% - Base 124/132 94% - Traded 913/924 99% - Overall Down to last few baddies. Always paying top dollar for the ones I don't have. #202 Ricky Wright #395 Damaso Garcia #665 Rod Scurry #15T Ivan Calderon #18T John Cangelosi #30T Mike Dunne - pending authentication #44T Brad Havens #83T Jeff Musselman #95T Tony Pena #126T Alan Wiggins #128T Frank Williams |
That’s really awesome to have 789/792.
By the way, Garvey has been added to PastPros. I already have him, but does this mean his fee is higher now? I sent $5.00 to have my 1987 signed. Would he only sign through PastPros now and for the appropriate fees? |
Be careful folks. Lock-em-up-bob just posted a Donnie Moore.
