Default M101-2 Cobby. Too clean?

Posted By: Steve f

Just acquired this for very short money. I, a little less than others like others believe this is a fake. The dimensions, though trimmed 'appear' legit. Rarely are there authentic M101-7s this white... It may also be a brightened/touched-up photo but the lack of yellowing is concerning. The gut said to chance that it was removed from an old standard frame as that is the reason for the hackjob. Tough call from this lame scan.

Haven't rec'd it yet. When it arrives, I'll compare it to a real one.

the few Cobbs I've seen look a little whiter than the usual m101-2 (not m101-7)supplement. Of course, it's missing the Sporting News Supp tagline across the top, which would probably give you a better insight as to whether it's fake. The stock will be the key, of course, once you have it in hand. The light fold lines and the overall look of the piece make me believe it's genuine. Please let us know once you receive it.

Just unwrapped this.

Side by side with another M101-2 graded Authentic by GAI.

Photo portion Measures fine but borders have been trimmed away.

Though the stock is a bit lighter, the UV glow level and paper thickness is a match. Has light aging and foxing, also, same fragile/brittle feel. Photogravure print patterns and ink color(brown)appear identical.

The back shows the same minute porous pattern from rollers.

Creased, poor-fair condition.

As it's long gone... Does anyone have a date for this Supplement?
