Isn't that Joe Hardy, the guy who sold his soul to the devil in "Damn Yankees?"

I'd say Charles Durning, but I think the photo's a little too old.

They didn't actually expect this old codger to be able to squat behind the plate, did they?

Dan

Am I dense about the reference to "Sigmund Powell"? Is it just a matter of a similar aesthetic to Boog?

(And don't get me started about John's role in The Babe...)

On another TV note, at one of Dennis Purdy's Tacoma shows (c. 1996), a bald, ruddy nosed, red faced man with thick glasses sat alone at a table, offering signed 8 x 10s for $8 a pop. Not recognizing him, I moved closer: horror of horrors, it was the once handsome Professor from Gilligan's Island.

Max

He was a Washington politician ( Mayor) who was asked to throw out the first pitch of the season but when the Deputy Mayor (laughing) realized he was too drunk to throw the pitch they decided to let him try and catch it( since he was already dressed for the event) --a great time was had by all !!
